The Who Live:1967
Live at the Marquee Club, London, England, March 2, 1967
Sound: Very good soundboard
Time: Approx. 10 Minutes
Set List:
So Sad About Us, Happy Jack, My Generation
Comments: The Who performed three songs live at the Marquee for a TV special, and here they are preserved in an excellent document about what The Who's 1966-1967 power pop sound was all about. Tight harmonies, thunderous bass and drums, screaming solos, especially on My Generation. A real treat and one that I love listening to.
Live at the Monterey Pop Festival, Monterey Fairgrounds, Monterey, California, June 18, 1967
Sound: Great Soundboard
Time: Approx. 25 Minutes
Set List:
Substitute, Summertime Blues, Pictures of Lily, A Quick One, While He's Away, Happy Jack, My Generation
Comments: This show broke The Who into the USA, and the impact now still has the feeling of urgency that I am sure it had then. Sounds great, played great and you can hear Pete trash his guitar at the end of My Generation!
Live at Dallas Memorial Auditorium, Dallas, Texas, July 23, 1967
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 35 Minutes
Set List:
Substitute, Summertime Blues, Pictures of Lily, So Sad About Us, Love Hurts, Boris the Spider, Happy Jack, I'm a Boy, My Generation
Comments: An incredibly rare document of a 1967 Who concert. The sound is very good here and the show is very powerful...hard to believe this act opened for the banal and unimpressive popiness of Herman's Hermits...what an insult to The Who and their music! This show is wonderful and extremely rare. Recommended.
Live at War Memorial Auditorium, Rochester, New York, August 30, 1967
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
Substitute, Pictures of Lily, Summertime Blues, Barbara Ann, Boris the Spider, A Quick One While He's Away, Happy Jack, I'm a Boy, My Generation
Comments: A really RARE show and a great one! Energy and aggression just flows right out of the speakers, alongside delicate and talented performances in such songs as Barbara Ann, A Quick One, and Happy Jack. This is pure POWER POP and it sounds spectacular. My Generation is a total apocalypse that drives the crowd out of their skulls. Rare and recommended!
