Led Zeppelin Live:1975

Live at Voorst National, Brussels, Belgium, January 12, 1975

Sound: Good to very good audience

Time: Approx. 100 Minutes

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, When the Levee Breaks, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, The Wanton Song, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, In My Time of Dying, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown

Comments: A warm-up show for the US tour and a very experimental and minimal set. This is the complete show, no marathons or improvisations, just the first live performances of the new Physical Graffiti songs. When the Levee Breaks is played live for the first time and sounds actually very good and interesting, and The Wanton Song rocks! The show has some good points, but is an average Zeppelin show that is enjoyable, but nowhere near the nirvana they would reach at the end of the forthcoming tour.

Live at Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, January 20, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 1 Hour

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven

Comments: The sound starts out real horrible but half way through Rock and Roll, it clears up and sounds excellent. The show isn't all that bad although Robert's voice is severely damaged by the flu. The band is fine, although Jimmy has some problems with timing and solos due to his broken finger. Still, not as bad as many people make it out to be.

Live at Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, January 21, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 90 Minutes

Set List:

Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, When the Levee Breaks, In My Time of Dying, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown

Comments: This is all that is known to exist from this concert and it is a curious mixture of great music and obvious physical handicap. Jimmy's finger was broken, and although most f his playing is fine, there is a certain weariness that cannot be helped due to his finger. Robert's voice is severely damaged by the flu and as such, is raspy and creaking. When the Levee Breaks sounds really good live...a shame it wasn't done more often live. No Quarter and Communication Breakdown are exceptional, and Sick Again is really good.

Live at Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, Ohio, January 24, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, The Wanton Song, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown

Comments: A very good show except for Robert, whose voice is severely damaged by the flu. Jimmy's broken finger doesn't hamper his playing much at all and Jones and Bonham are as good as ever. The Wanton Song is very different from the record and sounds great. Kashmir is very powerful and heavy and sounds very much like the album version. No Quarter has no piano solo, Jones stays on the organ and it is quite good. How Many More Times, was the centerpiece instead of Dazed until Jimmy's finger healed and it sounds quite different in 1975. The bow solo is intact and it is pretty good. The encores have Robert's voice basically gone although he does manage a few good screams. A good show but not tops.

Live at Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, Indiana, January 25, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 90 Minutes

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, The Wanton Song, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A good instrumental show, although Robert's voice is terrible..low and raspy, he barely hits the notes octaves below their original pitch and his attempts at infusing it with soul are lackluster at best. Jimmy manages quite well with a broken finger although some passages are rough. The rhythm section is unstoppable as always. A mediocre show although great sound and the rare Wanton Song make it a nice document of early 1975.

Live at Coliseum, Greensboro, North Carolina, January 29, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown

Comments: A very poor show overall...quite possibly the worst Led Zeppelin concert ever! Jonesy and Bonham are fine but Jimmy's playing veers from as good as ever (with a broken finger no less!) to sloppy and completely out of key. Robert's voice is in the worst shape it has ever been in...it is a strain for him to sustain notes in his middle range! How Many More Times is short and forgettable and although some songs are actually quite good, the overall effect of the flu and a broken finger result in a show that is better to listen to as a comparison against their most brilliant shows.

Live at Olympia Hall, Detroit, Michigan, January 31, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, How Many More Times, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A very good show although clearly not a return to form. Robert's voice is still very rough and Jimmy's finger is still hindering his playing. The rhythm section is as strong as always...they never have a bad show despite Page and Plant's problems. No Quarter is very good, though, and How Many More Times is not a bad version, and interesting considering they mix the Dazed sections in....it hadn't been played for 5 years!

Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, February 3, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Jam, Communication Breakdown

Comments: The first tour show in New York and the first 1975 performance of Dazed, not played live since July 29, 1973 at the same venue. This show is good, although Robert's voice is in pretty rough shape and Jimmy's finger must still be hurting. Even so, it is a pretty muscular show with some great playing, like in No Quarter. Dazed is pretty good for the first version in 18 months, although the band pretty roughly gets into the sections. The encores are energetic, making up for the poor shape of Plant's vocals, and Jimmy's finger doesn't show signs of strain at the end. Pretty good show.

Live at the Forum, Montreal, Canada, February 6, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Heartbreaker

Comments: A mixed show. The band sounds great and Jimmy, even with his hurt finger, plays almost up to his peak. Robert's voice is ravaged by the flu and he is nonexistent on stage for the most part, singing his parts and that's it so as not to strain his voice. Great version of No Quarter played and perhaps one of the best ever Trampled Underfoot versions. Dazed is excellent and the solo section of Stairway is gorgeous. The encores are blistering, although Robert is really suffering here. Jones and Bonham own this one, but Jimmy is nearly recovered.

Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, February 7, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 2 Hours

Comments: A very good show, except for Robert' who's voice is still damaged by the flu, although he does manage to force some good screams. Jimmy's soloing is excellent throughout and the band delivers excellent versions of No Quarter and Trampled Underfoot. Dazed still sounds timid, as it hasn't been done much since the beginning of the tour. Kashmir is sheer power.

Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, February 12, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Comments: A great show! It may have been a blizzard outside but the Garden was rocking this night! The band is in excellent form and delivers a great show. Robert sounds good and strong, JPJ and Bonzo are amazing as always, and Jimmy is incendiary tonight, especially at the end of Sick Again. He extends the solo in Over the Hills and Far Away to an incredible length and soars. This is definitely a triumph for the entire band and, not only a strong concert but also probably the best from the 1975 US Tour. Recommended.

Live at Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, February 13, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Roll Over Beethoven, Communication Breakdown (w/Ronnie Wood)

Comments: A great show! The band is strong, Robert's voice is in fair shape and Jimmy is blazing, especially on a great version of Dazed and Confused and an epic Stairway solo. One of the encores features Ronnie Wood on second guitar, dueling with Page as they trade licks in an extended jam that sounds killer when JPJ and Bonham jam behind it. What a show!

Live at Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, February 14, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Heartbreaker

Comments: This is a magical show..one of the best from 1975! Since I've Been Loving You is played for the first time out of three on this tour and the playing and energy of this show make it a real special concert. No Quarter is great and dazed is beyond words. The encores are funky and long, and the rare second encore of Heartbreaker has a long blues interlude inserted in Jimmy's solo. A wonderful show!

Live at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, February 28, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A great show from 1975! The recording captures clearly the performance and is really atmospheric, making this a pleasure to listen to. The show itself is wonderful...Robert is in good voice (something that doesn't happen often in 1975), and the band is amazing. Start to finish this show is great...even the long Moby Dick is enjoyable. No Quarter is a wonderful jam with some excellent piano from JPJ and Kashmir is epic. Dazed and Confused is long and great, and the drumming, in particular, is immense.

Live at Memorial Auditorium, Dallas, Texas, March 4, 1975

Sound: Excellent soundboard

Time: Approx. 90 Minutes

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot, No Quarter, Moby Dick

Comments: This is a pretty good show but not tops. Robert's voice is in pretty bad shape, but the instrumental machine is playing fine. Jones and Bonham in particular are wonderful, with Bonham reaching a peak of playing in Sick Again and In My Time Of Dying that is staggering. This is his show! Still, a very good show.

Live at Memorial Auditorium, Dallas, Texas, March 5, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Comments: A much better show than the night before. Robert's ego is gone and the band turns in a much better, tighter performance. Trampled Underfoot is very heavy and a great version and Dazed is intense and very long. The Crunge is inserted in Whole Lotta Love and is very funky and fast and leads into a monstrous Black Dog. Robert's voice is very strong and solid and he performs some great vocal variations in In My Time of Dying and Kashmir. Great sound on this one too.

Live at Sports Arena, San Diego, California, March 10, 1975

Sound: Very good audience, though slightly distant

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: An excellent show in front of a wild crowd! Jimmy's playing is excellent and the improvisations in No Quarter and Trampled Underfoot are very good. Dazed and Confused is almost symphonic in its scope...another excellent 1975 version! The interplay between the rhythm section and Page during the solo in Stairway is breathtaking and the funky jam in Whole Lotta Love drives everyone into a frenzy before Black Dog.

Live at Civic Arena, Long Beach, California, March 11, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Dazed and Confused, Moby Dick, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, The Crunge, Black Dog

Comments: Near soundboard sound here...amazing! The playing and singing are great here, but in some spots the band seems a little slow...this is probably due to the fact that this is one of the worst crowds ever! The audience is dull, bored and seems half-asleep. This show has some amazing playing but the crowd seems more interested in sleeping than the crushing music. This seems unbelievable, to be lucky enough to see Led Zeppelin and to react in this way. Robert slams the crowd for their reactions, but in reality, this show is great, but the next night is even greater!

Live at Civic Arena, Long Beach, California, March 12, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Heartbreaker, I'm A Man, Heartbreaker

Comments: One of the best, most visceral shows of 1975! The sound is crisp and bassy and really adds to the show. The opening string of numbers is brutal and fast and this may be one of the best versions of No Quarter ever! It is savage and the improvisations are excellent. Trampled Underfoot moves like nobody's business and Dazed and Confused is a glorious 1975 version in full flight. An exquisite Stairway closes the show and the relentless and surprising inclusions in the encores end a show that seems leagues ahead of the sluggishness of just the night before!

Live at Seattle Center Coliseum, Seattle, Washington, March 17, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A really superb show from the 1975 Tour. The sound is great and the playing is excellent. Robert is in decent voice and the band is on a roll! No Quarter and Dazed and Confused are some of the best versions ever, and he opening numbers are really powerful. A great prelude to the end of the tour, which had the strongest performances.

Live at Pacific Coliseum, Vancouver, Canada, March 20, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker

Comments: A very heavy and overall, good performance. No Quarter is absolutely beautiful and Dazed and Confused rocks really hard and is led by Jimmy's amazing guitar prowess. Stairway really lifts off during the guitar solo and the heavily improvised and dynamic encores close out this really heavy, powerful and exciting show, which in itself would prove to be nothing compared to the next night! Listen to the Whole Lotta Love encore for Lickin' Stick followed by the riffs from Ozone Baby, 3 years before it's recording!

Live at Seattle Center Coliseum, Seattle, Washington, March 21, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 4 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time Of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, Since I've Been Loving You, Trampled Underfoot, No Quarter, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Communication Breakdown, Heartbreaker

Comments: This show is one of the best from the 1975 tour. The entire show and length are impressive, but what makes this so memorable are the two epics. No Quarter is 30 minutes long and one of the best ever. But here, we have the longest ever Dazed and Confused, clocking in at 45 minutes and it is the best one ever. It moves through several sections and has many dynamic contrasts to keep it interesting throughout...it doesn't seem like 45 minutes! A great show. Must-have.

Live at LA Forum, Inglewood, California, March 24, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Comments: The first of three nights at the Forum and the closing segment of the tour. A very good show overall, although a feeling of sloppiness is especially evident in Jimmy's playing. After a rather brilliant opening section, Dazed and Confused suffers from Jimmy playing badly out of time with the rhythm section during the improvisations, and he doesn't correct it either! This makes for a jerky and uneasy listening experience. The closer is excellent and although The Crunge jam in Whole Lotta Love is good and the most complete version ever performed, Jimmy is lost and it shows! Licking Stick follows and is driven by the rhythm section into the Theremin solo which, as always, starts Jones amazing bass and Bonham's splendid drumming. A very good version of Heartbreaker closes the show.

Live at LA Forum, Inglewood, California, March 25, 1975

Sound: Excellent audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A really great show. Robert is powerful and the band rocks! Bonham's drumming is awesome throughout, and it really makes an impact during the first few numbers when the band plows through them with minimum pauses in between. No Quarter and Dazed and Confused are two great versions with lots of great improvisation. The jazzy groove of No Quarter, in particular, is spectacular. Jimmy's solo in Stairway is excellent. Great sound on this one too.

Live at LA Forum, Inglewood, California, March 27, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: The third and final night at the Forum and also the last show of the 1975 US Tour. A very good show, although Robert's voice alternates between sounding great and being really irritating. No Quarter is simply amazing, one of the best versions I have ever heard, and Dazed has some really great moments in the middle. This is the third out of three times Since I've Been Loving You was played in 1975. The guitar solo in Stairway to Heaven is amazing, and the Theremin section of Whole Lotta Love has some excellent bass and drum interplay while Robert screams. A very good show.

Live at Earl's Court Arena, London, England, May 17, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Tangerine, Going to California, That's the Way, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: A very good show but not tops. Robert's voice is simply awful in Rock and Roll and Jimmy's guitar goes on the fritz in Rock and Roll, but by Sick Again there is an obvious recovery. In My Time of Dying and No Quarter are simply wonderful, and although this version of Dazed and Confused isn't the best, it is quite good with a particularly great violin bow solo from Jimmy. His solo in Stairway makes up for any shortcomings previous to it.

Live at Earl's Court Arena, London, England, May 18, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Tangerine, Going to California, That's the Way, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: The second night produces a much more relaxed and tight performance. No Quarter has to be one of the best versions ever and the acoustic section is incredibly intimate and effective. Jimmy's soloing, especially in the greatly expanded Over the Hills and Far Away, is staggering. The encores sound banal after the very good version of Dazed and the dramatic Stairway to Heaven. A very good show.

Live at Earl's Court Arena, London, England, May 23, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Tangerine, Going to California, That's the Way, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: An excellent show....Robert's voice is in strong shape (by 1975 standards) and the band rocks! Kashmir is thunderous and No Quarter contains some truly excellent improvisation from all three instrumentalists. The acoustic section is wonderful and Dazed and Confused and Stairway are excellent version, though both will be bested the following night. The Whole Lotta Love encore has a really long jam leading into Black Dog, with the rhythm section cooking ferociously while Robert screams and ad-libs...good show!

Live at Earl's Court Arena, London, England, May 24, 1975

Sound: Very good soundboard

Time: 3 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Tangerine, That's the Way, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Trampled Underfoot, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog

Comments: This is a monster of a show. The best of the 5 earl's Court gigs, this show has the band reaching a peak for 1975, one that is even better than Seattle and LA 2 months earlier. No Quarter must be the best version ever recorded, and Dazed is an incredible journey. One of the best. Stairway contains probably the best solo ever by Jimmy on the song. All in all, a great, fun show, definitely worth having.

Live at Earl's Court Arena, London, England, May 25, 1975

Sound: Very good audience

Time: Approx. 3 1/2 Hours

Set List:

Rock and Roll, Sick Again, Over the Hills and Far Away, In My Time of Dying, The Song Remains the Same, The Rain Song, Kashmir, No Quarter, Tangerine, Going to California, That's the Way, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Dazed and Confused, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Black Dog, Heartbreaker, Communication Breakdown/D'yer Maker

Comments: The final Earl's Court show, the final 1975 show, and the last ever performance of Dazed and Confused. The initial string of numbers are high powered and aggressive! No Quarter is a really great jam and the acoustic section is pretty good. Moby Dick and Dazed and Confused are rather boring however, which is sad and rather unfitting as it is the last ever performance of the latter. The solo in Stairway to Heaven is wonderful and the encores contain a tortured Theremin solo from Jimmy before the extra songs are played for the last night's sake.
