Led Zeppelin Live:1977
Live at The Myriad, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, April 3, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Trampled Underfoot
Comments: The second show of the tour and the second concert in 2 years. It shows. The band is very rusty and unrehearsed and Jimmy plays solos in completely wrong keys in some songs! Robert's voice is fairly strong and the rhythm section seems all right in most spots, but the lack of confidence shows in the short length of No Quarter, Ten Years Gone and In My Time of Dying. This show is also the second ever time the new Presence songs are performed live, as well as Ten Years Gone and Battle of Evermore. An ok show, but by no stretch a great one or even a really good one.
Live at Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, April 6, 1977
Comments: Opening night for the four night stand in Chicago. After some scary firecracker blasts and shouts of protest from Robert, the show begins. It is quite good. Jimmy's solo in Since I've Been Loving You is excellent. He really tortures his guitar, making it scream and moan. Jimmy actually speaks during the acoustic section, and the ending of the show is kind of sloppy. Jimmy massacres Ten Years Gone, and his solo and Achilles are rushed and violent. Fairly strong show for the 2nd or 3rd one of the tour, and a strong opening nonetheless for Chicago, although disaster is around the corner 3 nights later.
Live at Chicago Stadium, Chicago, Illinois, April 9, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 1 Hour
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone
Comments: This is the show where Jimmy passes out due to food poisoning! The playing is very gutsy and inspired, although several times his timing is off and he confuses the rest of the band. This is most evident in the intro to Nobody's Fault But Mine and the fact that he plays the first minute of Since I've Been Loving You before the aforementioned song, making the set out of order and confusing the band, who do not enter. The show is cancelled after Jimmy passes out in Ten Years Gone. Too bad, as the show was very intense!
Live at Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, Ohio, April 19, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 100 Minutes
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir
Comments: This is all that is known to exist from this very enjoyable 1977 show. The playing is slick and there is nary a mistake throughout this concert. Kashmir is very powerful and the opening blast into Sick Again is quite powerful. Robert gets upset at the constant barrage of firecrackers, which are clearly audible on this tape. Where's the rest of this show!?
Live at Riverfront Coliseum, Cincinnati, Ohio, April 20, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 45 Minutes
Set List:
In My Time of Dying, Battle of Evermore, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo
Comments: This is all that exists from this satisfying show. Robert's voice is very powerful and Kashmir rocks really hard, and the entrance into it is explosive. Where's the rest!?
Live at The Omni, Atlanta, Georgia, April 23, 1977
Sound: Good to very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Trampled Underfoot
Comments: A very good early 1977 show. Sick Again is really heavy and rocks hard, and Since I've Been Loving You contains some tortured guitar soloing from Jimmy. No Quarter contains some truly great improvisations and some interesting keyboard variations by Jonesy. Achilles Last Stand brings the house down as always and Trampled Underfoot is an excellent version to cap the event. A very rare show, and a good one!
Live at Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, Ohio, April 27, 1977
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, White Summer, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Trampled Underfoot
Comments: This show gets criticized a lot, but it is really a good show, with lots of energy and intensity. The playing is great and the versions of Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand, and Ten Years Gone are exceptional, as is No Quarter. A really enthusiastic crowd feeds off of Zeppelin's energy, making for a memorable show.
Live at Richfield Coliseum, Cleveland, Ohio, April 28, 1977
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Dancing Days/Black Country Woman/Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side/ Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Trampled Underfoot
Comments: This is clearly a night to remember. This gets my vote for the best show of the whole 1977 tour! The playing and energy are wonderful and Robert is in very strong voice. This show has what are probably the best ever versions of Ten Years Gone and Since I've Been Loving You from 1977, as well as a spine-chilling Jimmy Page Solo, a monstrous Achilles Last Stand, a grand Kashmir, and amazing playing throughout, especially from Jimmy. No Quarter is a wonderful, long version with lots of classical references thrown in. Recommended!
Live at the Silverdome, Pontiac, Michigan, April 30, 1977
Comments: The last show of the first leg of the tour and what a way to end it! This is generally an excellent show on all levels, including an excellent No Quarter and some amazing guitar work on Since I've Been Loving You. Jimmy seems to be totally focused during the whole show and the concert as a whole is great. An interesting note is that this broke The Who's record for the highest attendance at a concert at the same venue by a little under 500 people. (Click here to go to The Who's excellent concert here in 1975.)
Live at Jefferson Memorial Coliseum, Birmingham, Alabama, May 18, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle Of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll
Comments: A very good show, the first since the Silverdome show. The first few songs are heavy and played very well and really provide a solid introduction to the set. No Quarter in particular is quite good, although shorter than usual. Achilles is very good and almost impeccable and the drama is really heightened in the solo/jam section of Stairway. A brutal Rock and Roll caps the event.
Live at Tarrant County Convention Center, Fort Worth, Texas, May 22, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll, It'll Be Me
Comments: The crowd is riotous in this show and it adds a certain amount of chaos and tension to the concert. The band has to restart In My Time of Dying as they messed up the tempo and Bonham completely ruins the end by playing so far out of time that I couldn't even find the beat by listening to the guitars. The concert is basically average, but still pretty good. Achilles is the real blowout; one of the most aggressive versions I have ever heard and very powerful. Stairway sounds really tired and worn out. Robert doesn't do any of his usual ad-libs and he sounds lazy and uninterested on all the vocals. The only part of the piece that sounds lively is the guitar solo and that jam section. The encores are good and It'll Be Me features Mick Ralphs of Bad Company on second guitar.....he shouldn't have bothered getting on stage. Not only does Jimmy make him look foolish with his playing but he gets completely drowned out as well!
Live at Capitol Center, Landover, Maryland, May 25, 1977
Sound: Very good, but incredibly distant audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: Although the recording is very clear, it is incredibly distant, and hard to listen to unless you turn it up a lot and don't mind some hiss. Then, it is enjoyable and discernible. The performance itself is amazing, one of the strongest and best of the 1977 tour. These 4 nights in Landover were a very strong segment of the tour. Jimmy is on for the whole show and the entire band is playing great and inspired music. Even Robert is in very strong voice and high spirits. No Quarter is excellent and Achilles is blistering. A great opening night for the stand here in Landover.
Live at Capitol Center, Landover, Maryland, May 30, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again. Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Surrender, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: The 4th and last night at this venue, this show is one of the best from 1977! Jimmy's playing is amazing, especially in Achilles Last Stand, No Quarter, and his awesome Stairway solo. Ten Years Gone is simply beautiful and epic in scope. Sick Again starts sloppily but after that, this show develops into one of the best from the tour, with each member firing on all cylinders. A real treat and the only Maryland date to have good sound.
Live at Tampa Stadium, Tampa, Florida, June 3, 1977
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 20 Minutes
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine
Comments: Another 1977 disaster. Even though the playing is exceptional and really gutsy and strong, the show has to be called off due to a severe rainstorm breaking out and a danger of electrocution threatening the event. After only 3 songs, the show was cancelled and a huge riot broke out. The stadium was trashed and riot police were called in. Too bad. The sound is excellent and the playing is great!
Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, June 7, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Time:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: This is the first of a six-night stand in New York and a really good show at that. Kashmir is a little sloppy but the whole show is really powerful and Jimmy is on fire in Achilles Last Stand. The drumming is very sloppy in Stairway to Heaven and everyone chases each other through Rock and Roll, which makes for a very bizarre arrangement. A good first night at the Garden.
Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, June 10, 1977
Sound: Good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, The Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Heartbreaker, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: A great 1977 show that has some of the best playing. Ten Years Gone is gorgeous and No Quarter is truly excellent. Kashmir is thundering and the finale has some great playing, with Achilles Last Stand being the high point. An excellent version of Heartbreaker is thrown into the set and is rocking! A very, very good show.
Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, June 11, 1977
Sound: Good to very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Heartbreaker
Comments: Fourth night at the Garden and the crowd is just as wild as the first! The set is well paced and the crude recording gives you an idea of just how much of a sonic wall Bonham and Jones were capable of creating. No Quarter is excellent as in most 1977 shows and Ten Years Gone has Page being as epic as usual with his one guitar orchestrations. Kashmir is towering and Heartbreaker is a riotous encore with Page's middle solo containing sections as it did in the past. A very good show.
Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, June 13, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:

Comments: A very powerful and strong show all the way through. Robert even sings Over the Hills and Far Away up high, something he hadn't done for 5 years! No Quarter is gorgeous. Jimmy's soloing is excellent and Jones plays some great, mystical piano. The entire show is very powerful and brings to mind the spontaneity of previous tours. A great show from this run at Madison Square Garden.
Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, New York, June 14, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours

Comments: The final night at the Garden and an excellent show. The band is very powerful and Page is playing a great concert, stopping the hearts of the crowd in Since I've Been Loving You and especially No Quarter. Ten Years Gone is an excellent version and the concert is powerful where the tape finishes. This is all that exists of the show...missing the drum solo and last 3 songs and encores. Where are they!?
Live at San Diego Sports Arena, San Diego, California, June 19, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, In My Time of Dying, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Mystery Train, Black Country Woman, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: This show is wonderful. Jimmy Page is playing some of the best guitar I have ever heard, and despite his back problems during this show, JPJ is amazing on bass and keyboards. Robert's voice is in very good shape, and the only problem comes from Bonham. He sounds fine sometimes, but other times, his fills are measures behind the rest of the group and his playing is erratic...it still sounds fine with the songs and makes for some new arrangements, but sometimes he seems lost...they drop Moby Dick because of this. Anyhow, this show is great, and No Quarter, Ten Years Gone and Achilles Last Stand rock! Jimmy is on; this is his show!
Live at the LA Forum, Inglewood, California, June 21, 1977
Sound: Exceptional audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours

Comments: First of 6 sold out nights at the Forum, and a great show. Achilles is devastating and No Quarter and the opening segment of songs are incredibly strong. A great show and not merely an opening night, but a great show in its own right. It also comes from the best audience recording ever! Essential.
Live at the LA Forum, Inglewood, California, June 22, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Comments: A really erratic night, especially from Jimmy. He totally botches The Song Remains the Same, and then delivers some excellent playing on Sick Again, Since I've Been Loving You, and No Quarter. Achilles is rushed and Jimmy almost forgets the solo, throwing everyone's timing off. How they recover is quite exciting though! The Stairway solo from him is exquisite. All in all, the most erratic LA show, probably the worst one out of the 6 nights but still a very good show. The rest of the band seems fine.
Live at the LA Forum, Inglewood, California, June 23, 1977
Sound: Very Good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:

Comments: An excellent show, with the whole band firing on all cylinders! Jimmy's soloing during Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, and Ten Years Gone in particular, is amazing. Keith Moon joins in to make this already classic show legendary in stature. Incredible sound quality makes this one an all time classic and a must have!

Comments: Wow! What an incredible show, and Jimmy in particular is playing some of the best guitar of the tour! The entire band is in a no nonsense mood, playing the best they can. No Quarter and Ten Years Gone are beautiful and Achilles and Stairway are exquisite. Jimmy's solo in Trampled Underfoot is one of the best he's ever done on that song and the funky Communication Breakdown encore caps what is probably the best of the 6 LA Forum shows!
Live at the LA Forum, Inglewood, California, June 26, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, That's Alright, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, It'll Be Me
Comments: Another amazing show from this run! The playing and singing are top notch and everything is concentrated on the music. No Quarter is amazing with great improvisations and the acoustic section is long and spontaneous, with That's Alright being dropped in complete with a slide guitar solo! Jimmy's solo is great and long, with several unusual sections that sound exciting and build the tension before Achilles Last Stand blows it all apart. A great solo and jam section in Stairway to Heaven and a rocking and EXCELLENT encore of It'll Be Me close one of the best 1977 shows ever.
Live at the LA Forum, Inglewood, California, June 27, 1977
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 3 1/2 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Going Down South, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, Dancing Days, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: An endless epic concert closes out the 6 night stand at the Forum, and Led Zeppelin start off slow but by the middle they reach a great height, although they do seem to be a little tired at the end. The 40 minute No Quarter contains some great improvisation and Ten Years Gone is really epic. A wild and spontaneous acoustic section is the centerpiece of this show and a riotous and funky Trampled Underfoot is a welcome addition to the concert. Jimmy solo is nearly 30 minutes long and is fairly enjoyable, although his tuning in the middle helps give the impression that it is rather wandering, and Achilles Last Stand is sloppier than most versions. A great end to the saga though!
Live at the Kingdome, Seattle, Washington, July 17, 1977
Sound: Good audience
Time: Approx. 3 1/2 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, White Summer, Kashmir, Moby Dick, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Heartbreaker, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: A very good show in a huge, echoey venue. The recording is distant but quite listenable, and the show is very good considering the 2-week layoff between the LA Forum gigs and this one. Stairway has the most beautiful Page solo ever performed, and the show as a whole is strong and full of energy, even though it may not be the most technically perfect one.
Live at Alameda County Stadium, Oakland, California, July 23, 1977
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 3 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll, Black Dog
Comments: The second to last gig ever in the States. This is a very strong show with some really great highlights like the numbers leading up to No Quarter. Ten Years Gone is ruined in the middle by Jimmy, but the section of the show afterwards is really quite good including a brutal Achilles with some nice rhythmic change ups by Jones and Bonham. A very rare for 1977 Black Dog closes the show as a second encore. It was after this show that Bonham, Peter Grant, and members of the road crew were arrested for beating a member of Bill Graham's staff.
Live at Alameda County Stadium, Oakland, California, July 24, 1977
Sound: Excellent audience
Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours
Set List:
The Song Remains the Same, Sick Again, Nobody's Fault But Mine, Over the Hills and Far Away, Since I've Been Loving You, No Quarter, Ten Years Gone, Battle of Evermore, Going to California, Mystery Train, Black Country Woman, Bron-Yr-Aur Stomp, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Trampled Underfoot, Jimmy Page Solo, Achilles Last Stand, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, Rock and Roll
Comments: The last show of the tour before Plant's son's untimely death and the last ever Led Zeppelin show in America. A very good show although somewhat hurried and tense due to the beating of Bill Graham's man by Bonham and their road crew. The sound is excellent and Jimmy's playing is very good in Since I've Been Loving You. The improvisations are excellent in No Quarter but the end of the show gets sloppy and the encores are rushed and erratic.
