Comments: The first show of the 1980 Tour and a very dynamic and good one. Jimmy, as always on this tour, flashes between brilliance (Since I've Been Loving You, Stairway) and mistakes (White Summer/Black Mountain Side). The encores are great, especially Heartbreaker inside of Whole Lotta Love...a treat!
Live at Sporthalle, Cologne, Germany, June 18, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Communication Breakdown
Comments: Another early 1980 show that is strong and fast paced. The opening string of numbers is powerful and the band seems ready to play from the outset. Jimmy reaches for boredom in White Summer and the whole of Since I've Been Loving You is a joke for Jimmy...he is constantly out of tune and out of time throughout the whole piece! Achilles Last Stand is excellent and the minimalistic encores finish off this overall excellent show.
Live at Voorst National, Brussels, Belgium, June 20, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love
Comments: A really good show, although Jimmy destroys the sections of Achilles. He delivers some great solos on Stairway and Since I've Been Loving You. The rest of the band seems in fine shape, although Robert's lack of enthusiasm for Stairway is blatantly apparent.
Live at Ahoyhallen, Rotterdam, Netherlands, June 21, 1980
Sound: Very good audience (complete) or excellent soundboard (missing first 4 songs)
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Heartbreaker
Comments: A truly excellent and fiery show in front of a dull and restrained crowd. The band is really playing well, and even Jimmy is on near top form, playing with guts, cleanly and constructing exciting solos and his usual great guitar playing. Trampled Underfoot is a definite highlight, and the encore of Heartbreaker is blistering. Another excellent early tour show.
Live at Messezentrum Halle, Nuremberg, Germany, June 27, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 15 Minutes
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog
Comments: This is the complete show...Bonham collapsed after Black Dog because he ate too many bananas and had a severe stomachache! Too bad as they are playing with guts and quite a bit more energy than on some of the other shows on the tour.
Live at Hallenstadion, Zurich, Switzerland, June 29, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept a Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Heartbreaker
Comments: One of the best shows from the 1980 tour, this show has a great version of Heartbreaker and Train Kept a Rollin'. Jimmy flashes between inspired playing and getting his fingers caught in the strings. The rest of the group play well and seem to be having fun, although they totally botch Kashmir. Robert's voice is in great shape, and overall, this is a very good concert.
Live at Festhalle, Frankfurt, Germany, June 30, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Money, Whole Lotta Love
Comments: This show must be tied with the night before for the best 1980 show ever! What an excellent show. One of the few 1980 shows that has no moments of apathy or sluggishness. Fresh ideas and old ones are mixed and the result is one of the best concerts ever in Led Zeppelin's career. Achilles Last Stand is excellent and one of the strongest versions ever and the encores are simply amazing. Robert's voice is great...he hits all the high notes! Definitely a 1980 show worth seeking out!
Live at Eisstadion, Mannheim, Germany, July 2, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love
Comments: A merely average 1980 gig. Well played and well sung but not nearly as hot as the gigs in Zurich and Frankfurt days before. Jimmy is somewhat sloppy although he does manage some great solos in Since I've Been Loving You and Achilles Last Stand. Bonham sounds quite bored in Achilles, however. Robert sounds like he is singing Stairway under extreme duress......he makes no effort to hide the fact that he's sick of it! Overall a decent show with mistakes and apathy mixed heavily with the moments of inspiration.
Live at Eisstadion, Mannheim, Germany, July 3, 1980
Sound: Excellent Soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Communication Breakdown, Rock and Roll
Comments: A better show than the night before, although still sluggish in some places. The opening numbers are good, including an extended Train Kept A Rollin'. Overall, the show is very good although as a whole not quite as good as previous ones on the tour. Still, they are in high sprits and play very well, including a great middle string of numbers. The only weak link is Stairway, with Robert giving it a deliberate lounge act reading, showing the band's apathy for it.
Live at Olympiahalle, Munich, Germany, July 5, 1980
Sound: Very good audience
Time: Approx. 2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, Achilles Last Stand, White Summer/Black Mountain Side, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love
Comments: A very uneven, although very good show. Robert seems to be in good spirits with his crowd rapport, except fore his completely dead and emotionless delivery of Stairway. The band is playing well, although Jimmy, as usual on this tour, varies between brilliance and apathy. The encores are the hottest part of the show!
Live at Eissporthalle, Berlin, Germany, July 7, 1980
Sound: Excellent soundboard
Time: Approx. 2 1/2 Hours
Set List:
Train Kept A Rollin', Nobody's Fault But Mine, Black Dog, In the Evening, The Rain Song, Hot Dog, All My Love, Trampled Underfoot, Since I've Been Loving You, White Summer, Kashmir, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, Whole Lotta Love
Comments: The last show of the tour and the last Led Zeppelin show EVER! This show alternates between brilliance and boredom, especially from Jimmy. But the good moments are very good. Since I've Been Loving You is a great version and there is a lot of experimentation with a very long and great version of Trampled Underfoot and a long version of Stairway to Heaven. Whole Lotta Love is a long jam that sounds great. Amazing bass from Jones as Jimmy spits out guitar flourishes and Robert and Bonzo cook behind this. One of the only shows from the 1980 Tour that didn't have Achilles Last Stand. But as the last ever show there is historical significance here.
