Thanks for stopping by! I have always enjoyed the romance of lace and so I decided to learn how to make it myself. So the journey began........ I first learned how to needle tat, then moved on to the shuttle with the help of fellow on-liners and some great web sites. It is truly a wonderful hobby as the tools needed are very inexpensive! The act of tatting is actually the art of tying a knot....just one type of knot which some folks call a half-hitch knot and leaving spaces...called picots. It is how the knots and picots are arranged that create the pattern of the lace.
Haven't heard of tatting before you say? I believe it. There is a common misconception out in the "real" world that tatting is a lost art. One of the many statements I have heard is, "Oh, my grandmother used to do that, but nobody does it anymore!". This could not be further from the truth. Tatting has recently enjoyed a renaissance if you will. There are currently 3 online mailing lists that I'm aware of, one of these having a membership of over 750+ tatters world wide! Now, common sense tells me that there has to be quite a few of us out there not hooked up to the net that tat as well. There are also more and more new tatting books published every year.
So what's the bottom line? Well, I hope that my page will encourage you to come join the fun. Learn a new skill and enjoy the process of creating art! Please feel free to contact me to talk about tatting..I would be more than happy to try and answer any questions you may have.
Happy Tatting, Becky
