In 1986, New Delhi's World Religious Parliament named him one of five modern-day Jagadacharyas or "world teachers" for promoting the Hindu renaissance for half a century. He was chosen as a Hindu representative for Global Forums of Spiritual and Parlimentary Leaders for Human Survival held in Oxford in 1988, Moscow 1990 and Rio de Janiero 1992 and elected as one of three presidents to represent Hinduism at the 1993 Chicago Parliament of World's Religions.

Gurudeva was recently awarded the "U Thant" peace award by the United Nations for his services to mankind in promoting peace and protecting the environment.
Gurudeva was born on the 5th of January 1927, at 08.25am in Oakland, California in the 10th sign of the zodiac with the 5th and 10th lord Venus in the lagna enjoying Malavya raja yoga. Venus the peaceful and harmonious planet is associated with the 7th lord of the masses, a waxing Moon. This has made him the great natural leader who's kindness and benevolent nature has attracted millions of devotees.
His ascendent lord Saturn shows a strict and traditional teacher who follows the teachings of his lineage and the position of Saturn in the 11th house of gains in the occult sign of Scorpio reveals his authority on occult and spiritual subjects.
Born in a Kumbha Mela year when Jupiter is in Aquarius, Gurudeva has his atmakaraka or significator of the soul Sun in the 12th house of enlightenment, in the 9th sign of the zodiac, in association with the 9th lord Mercury and the Moksha karaka Ketu. This combination is similar to the Dalai Lama who has the same combination for his Cancer lagna.
Gurudeva's lagna cusp is well fortified with Raja yoga planet Venus and birth yogi planet Moon in the lagna on each side of the lagna cusp and the atmakaraka Sun and Jupiter form a Shuba kartari yoga by being on each side of the first house.
The health is strong with 8th lord of longevity Sun in the 12th house forming Vipreeta raja yoga. Mercury as 6th lord also forms Vipreeta Raja yoga in the 12th house and both these planets are trine to Mars who forms a strong Mahaparusha Ruchaka raja yoga by being in a kendra in his own sign.
The atmakaraka Sun and 9th lord Mercury both fall in the 12th house of liberation in the sign of the feet. Gurudeva's feet are worshiped as a representation of Lord Siva.
Venus and the lagna cusp both fall in the nakshatra of atmakaraka Sun who is located in the 12th house, in the 9th sign with the karaka of enlightenment Ketu. Ketu and the Sun are both in the nakshatra of Raja yoga planet Venus who is in the lagna. This forms Sookshima parivartana raja yoga by constellation exchange. Wonderful combinations.
Gurudeva's Moon is birth yogi planet and 7th lord of the masses falling in Shravana, its own nakshatra. Shravana is associated with service to mankind and divine knowlege of the Vedas. It gives ability to hear divine sounds and gives great spiritual insight. Gurudeva also loves dancing and music as shown by his Venus in the lagna with the Moon and the Moon in Shravana.
The 9th lord Mercury is in the 12th house of enlightenment with the atmakaraka and 8th lord of death Sun. Both are associated with the moksha karaka Ketu and all three are located in the 9th sign belonging to Jupiter. He will be reincarnated to the feet of Lord Siva.
The position of Neptune the mystical planet is also interesting at 3 degrees Leo in the 8th house of the occult. Neptune falls in the nakshatra of Ketu and is associated with an exalted Moon in navamsha. Anyway you look at this chart we a a soul born as a great spiritual leader of the world.
