"Yes. Dreadful place. I went there two years ago. It's
totally scary, even more scary now because it's
completely deserted. Nobody lives there at all. There's nothing but monkeys and snakes up
there. It's
miles from anywhere. It was so remote that once the battle was over it was really
abandoned; they
never repaired the breach. In fact it is the only place I've ever been where you can climb
a real breach.
Which is very difficult because it was much steeper than I expected. The assault must have
been
terrible - I certainly wouldn't want to have done it. On a hot day wearing a woollen
uniform, it must have
been murderous."
