Sharpe's Eagle

Lieutenant Richard Sharpe has recently risen to the level of Captain, but not everyone in the British Army is pleased to see Sharpe’s success. Among those unhappy are the cowardly and incompetent Colonel Simmerson and his two treacherous Lieutenants Gibbons (Neil Didgeon) and Berry (Daniel Craig). Sharpe’s promotion to Captaincy came over Gibbons, who after losing the King’s colours along with Simmerson plots to disgrace and dispose of Sharpe. In order to keep his promotion and his honour Sharpe is forced to stop Simmerson and help defeat the French at Talavera. He also must fulfill a deathbed promise to obtain a coveted French eagle.

Sharpe's Company

Wellington’s army is well on their way into Spain, but the price of their advancement is paid in buckets of blood. Due to an influx of new officers, Sharpe has been demoted back to a Lieutenant. If losing his company wasn’t bad enough Sharpe’s old enemy, the slimy Sergeant Hakeswill arrives. Hakeswill’s hatred of Sharpe knows no bounds and he connives to punish Sharpe and the 95th Rifles by every and any unscrupulous mean. As the British Army makes ready to lay siege to the town of Badajoz, Sharpe’s troubles are compounded further. Inside Badajoz are Theresa and Sharpe’s new baby daughter Antonia. With nothing left to lose and everything to gain Sharpe sets out to lead a charge of Forlorn Hope (an almost suicidal initial attack on the French.).

Sharpe's Honour

A very good episode, one of the best of the series. Sharpe is mourning the loss of Teresa and nothing seems to pull him out of his depression. Over with the French Ducos is plotting to force the Spanish nobility to sign a treaty with France and kick the British out of Spain, but he needs a British officer to commit an outrage to get the nobilities support. Poor Richard is his fall guy. Framed for the murder of the Marques (Jay Benedict) and an adulterous affair with his wife, La Marquesa (Alice Krige),
Sharpe must go behind enemy lines and discover why he was framed and what Ducos is planning. Harper faithfully follows, even though Ramona is heavily pregnant.

Sharpe's Gold

What the hell happened here!!!! I want to know what the screenplay writer was on when he came up with this story. For those that may have read the book, forget it, this is a totally different story. Fortunately the acting is still first class and there are some great pieces of dialogue. The plot (or what there is of it) is about the British, on preparing to invade France are selling rifles to guerilla leader El Casco (Abel Folk) in exchange for deserters. Sharpe is given the mission of carrying out the
trade, and soon discovers the babaric nature of El Casco and his men. Further problems arise with the appearence of Wellington's cousin, Bess (Rosaleen Linehan), and her daughter, Ellie (Jayne
Ashbourne), who have come searching for Bess' missing husband, a cartographer.

Led by the foolishly brave Lord Kiely (Jason Durr) these Irish exiles want nothing more than desert. Loup, with the help of the treacherous Dona Juanita (Siri Neal), is happy to assist them.
