Character(s): Shock Gibson
Publication: Speed Comics No. 41
Publication Date: January 1946
Publisher: Family Comics, Inc.
From Speed Comics no. 20: "Robert Gibson,
amateur scientist and heir to millions, discovered the tremendous secret of humanizing electrical
energy, and from that day on, became the mighty Shock Gibson, America's champion of liberty
and justice."
Shock Gibson possessed a variety of
powers based upon his electrically-charged body. These included flight, enhanced strength,
and electro-magnetic attraction. He could also hurl electic bolts from his hands.
Shock Gibson used his powers to defend
America from its enemies, such as Japanese invaders. He was often assisted in his activities by
his girlfriend, Sandra. As can be seen in the story reprinted here, Robert Gibson
eventually enlisted in the military to assist his country during World War II.
Shock Gibson appeared
Speed Comics/New Speed Comics 1-44, All New Comics no. 8, and
Green Hornet Comics 37 & 38.
