Welcome to
Pure Excitement Comics, the number one source for original
Golden Age comic book reprints on the Web!
Hey, everybody,
welcome to the long-awaited 17th issue! My new house has been completed and I'm
all moved in, so it's back to the reprints!
I'm sticking with the
single main introductory page format for the foreseeable future. It cuts down on
production time and most of the background information I included came from the
stories reprinted anyway...
Up first this month
is The Red Panther, from a coverless issue of Jungle Comics
which I believe to be no. 15 based on the contents. Any confirmation/correction
would be appreciated.
Issue no. 15 was published in March of 1941 by Glen-Kel Publishing, Inc./Fiction House.
The Red Panther appeared in Jungle Comics 1-26.
The second feature this month
is Fantomah, reprinted from the same issue of Jungle Comics.
Fantomah, Mystery Woman of the Jungle (and later "Daughter of the Pharohs"), appeared in
Jungle Comics 2-51.
Returning this month in the third
spot is Miss Masque, in a story from
The Black Terror no. 21, published in January of 1948 by Visual Editions, Inc.
This is Miss Masque's second appearance in Pure Excitement Comics. She appeared in
Exciting Comics nos. 51-54, America's Best Comics nos. 23-31, The
Fighting Yank nos. 22 & 24, and The Black Terror no. 21.
All stories are believed to be in the public domain*.
