Welcome to the Letters Page,
everybody! Hope you enjoyed the latest issue of Pure Excitement Comics! Here
are some letters I received following the last issue:
I really enjoy the reprints
and other features on your web site. Keep up the good work. How about Black Dwarf,
Sgt. Spook or Frankenstein in a future issue?
You're doing great work and here's
hoping others will follow in your footsteps.
"Mr. Natural"
Thanks for reading! I may feature
a Frankenstein story in the near future and Sgt. Spook isn't out of the question either,
but I don't have access to any Black Dwarf stories at this time.
PFE gets
better with each month. Is there any chance on seeing a story with
Black Cobra? What about the Clock, can we see a story with him? I've heard
about both of these heroes but have never been able to see any adventures
with either. Your site gives the Golden Age minor heroes a place where they
won't be forgotten. Maybe because of what you are doing with PFE we will see
the return of some of these obscure heroes.
Thanks for caring to give us a
site like PFE, I hope more people follow your example.
Richard Croxton
Richard, I don't have
access to any Black Cobra stories, but I do own some Clock appearances. However,
I'm staying away from stories published by Quality Comics because they are currently
owned by DC and I don't want any type of legal trouble, even tho' reprinting those
stories is apparently now OK. Check with www.comicsoncdrom.com for a couple of discs featuring
Clock stories (the "Feature Comics" one and at least one "Crack Comics" disc that I know of).
You have a
really great site, but I was wondering, why so few heroines featured
at Pure Excitement Comics? I know in the golden-age there were very
few heroines, but there were a few. A couple off-hand that I've read
about in Trina Robbin's excellent 'The Great Women Superheroes": Super Ann Star
- I think she ran as a back-up feature along with Mighty Man in Amazing-Man
comics in the 40's; Moon Girl - I think she was a copy of Wonder Woman in
the 40's; The Black Cat - 40's version; Pat Patriot. I think it would be
kind of a kick to read about some of the forgotten heroines of the golden-age too!
Again, great site,
Dan Lorenzen
Thanks for the praise
for the site. As you probably know, I did feature an all-female line-up in
one issue of Pure Excitement a while back. I can only reprint stories I own
and outside of Miss Masque, I don't own many stories featuring costumes female
heroes. Also, while I do own some Black Cat stories, the copyright holder is
still relatively active for that character, so I'm not reprinting those stories.
Whenever I get some more stories featuring female crimefighters, they'll go to
the front of the line for reprinting. That's what happened with Fantomah in
this issue. Hope you enjoyed the appearances by her and Miss Masque. I don't
plan to feature too many jungle-type characters, by Fantomah was odd enough to
include!
That's it for the letters
from the last month. Sorry, no "Cover Gallery" again this issue -- watch for it
to return as soon as I am even more settled into my new home. See you next month!
