Welcome to
Pure Excitement Comics, the number one source for original
Golden Age comic book reprints on the Web!
Hey, everybody,
welcome to the the 19th issue!
Our first feature this month,
is Sgt. Spook, a reader request, from Blue Bolt Comics
vol. 9 no. 3 published in August of 1948 by The Premium Service Co. Sgt. Spook appeared in
Blue Bolt Comics Vol. 1 No. 1 through Vol. 10 No. 1 (missing a handful
of issues at the end of the run) and Dick Cole no. 1.
Returning this month in the second spot
is Dynamic Man, reprinted from Dynamic Comics no. 24 (a
coverless copy, so that may be wrong), which was published in March of
1948 by Superior Publishers Ltd. Dynamic Man appeared in Dynamic Comics 1-24.
In the third spot this month,
because one of my readers requested Western material and I'm happy to oblige, is
Jim Hatfield, Texas Ranger, in a story from
Exciting Comics no. 18, published in April 1942 by Better Publications, Inc.
Jim Hatfield, Texas Ranger, appeared in Exciting Comics nos. 1, 3-16, 18, 19 and 21.
Hope you enjoy this issue. Also,
be sure to check back in the coming months; I plan to offer a super special CD-ROM soon
featuring one of the most popular charactes from our first 18 issues - The Target! The
disc will feature 15 Target stories, all scanned much larger and clearer than you're used
to here, which have never been featured in the pages of Pure Excitement Comics.
As a bonus, the disc will also include the three stories previously featured on this site,
but rescanned better! I'm planning to sell the disc for the unbelievable sum
of $10 (shipped), so start saving now! ;) Who's your pal?
All stories are believed to be in the public domain*.
