Letters Page

Welcome to the Letters Page, everybody! Hope you enjoyed the latest issue of Pure Excitement Comics! Here are some letters I received following the last issue:
The Raven story was excellent, you got me interested in him. Do you have any more information on this hero? You could do a story every month on him and I would be happy.

Richard Croxton

Glad to hear you enjoyed the issue! Everything I know about The Raven can be found at: http://members.xoom.com/williamnolan/raven.html. That's one of the entries in my online Gallery of Golden Age Heroes (link to the left). I own one other Raven story which I may get aroud to reprinting in the future.
Hi Bill, I really enjoyed issue 18 - I had recently completed an action figure of the Raven so it was nice to see a story with him in it - maybe I'll send you a picture one of these days. The Echo was a new character to me but Frankenstein was one I've seen before. I've enclosed pictures of Red Panther, as promised, and the Hydroman/Rainbow Boy team. I like to present them with the art - hope you like them and feel free to run them on your site if you like.
Looking forward to the next issue.

Cheers, Dennis

Dennis, thanks for reading and thanks for sending me the pictures of your great custom action figures. Anyone interested in seeing these great figures should go to my Gallery of Golden Age Heroes site (link in the column to the left) and click on the "Fan Art" link. You won't be disappointed!
My name is Erin and I love this site! I collect comic books, mostly Marvel westerns and DC Golden Age Heroes. I've also read every comic on here and was wondering if you could do a western theme soon?
   Keep up the great work!!

Erin

Thank you for the kind words about my site. I put a lot of work into it and always appreciate the emails I get from my readers! I don't have a Western themed issued planned right now, but I'll consider one for a future issue now that it's been requested. I usually stick to costumed mysterymen, but I'm always happy to "do requests." I'm not sure if I have enough material for a whole issue, tho', I'll have to check (I don't have many Western comics in my collection). I hope you enjoyed the somewhat Western Black Rider strip in issue 13. I try to reserve the third slot in each issue for something a little different, so maybe I will try to get a Western story or two in the third slot of a couple of future issues. (In fact, that's what I did this month with the Jim Hatfield strip -- hope you enjoyed it, Erin!)
I just signed up for the Golden Agers club through Yahoo, but still have "guest" status. Is the club inactive or am I just doing something wrong? I have been enjoying Pure Excitement Comics very much. I once owned a handful of golden age comic and have been interested in work from that era since the "Flash of Two Worlds" story (that will give you a clue to how old I am). I think you are providing an important public service with Pure Excitement Comics and I just want to say "good on you" for your efforts. Even if the Golden Agers club is defunct I'll still have Pure Excitement, so thanks.
   More power to you.

Jon F. Glade

I'm glad you enjoy reading Pure Excitement Comics, but, yes, the Golden Agers club is pretty much inactive. I have been unable to do anything with it for a long time. I'm not sure if you're doing something wrong, since I'm not familiar with the set up after so long. I'm not discouraging others from gathering at the club, however, if they want to get things going again! Click on this link if interested - Goldenagers!
Congratulations for finishing your house. And thanks for the Frankenstein and Echo stories in Pure Excitement 18. Keep up the good work.
   Keep up the good work.

Fred Miller

Thanks! And don't worry, I'm still working on getting a Sgt. Spook story for the site soon. A friend of mine has a number of comics with that character in them, I just have to get around to borrowing them! (Actually, I went out and bought an issue of Blue Bolt since writing my original reply to get the Sgt. Spook story featured this month -- hope you enjoyed it!)
That's it for the letters from the last month. Check out the so-called "Cover Gallery" below and see if you can help out your favorite Editor!

A little something different in the gallery this month. This is the splash page of a coverless comic I believe to be Super-Mystery Comics Vol. 4 No. 1. I'm putting a call out to my readers for assistance on this one. I am missing pages 3 and 4 of the Magno & Davey story shown here ("Death is Never Rationed"). Anyone who can help out with some scans, please e-mail me!
