Welcome to the Letters Page,
everybody! First, I must once again plug my newest CD-ROM (no. 5). It is the second
PEC Super Special and features over 20 stories! For more details on the contents and
ordering info, check out the CD-ROM link in the column to the left. My sixth CD-ROM
should be available by next month. It focuses on the heroes of Nedor Publishing.
Here are some letters I received during the past month:
Hi Bill. Received
your 5th CD-ROM and was very pleased. While I like the CD's you have done
that concentrate on one character or group, the ones like this that give a
sampling of a number of characters are also excellent. I think you should
keep doing both if possible. I had not seen Dr. Miracle, Duke of Darkness,
Flip Falcon or Phantom Falcon before so those were a new experience. You
also had some of my old favorites like Dynamic Man, Steel Fist and Yellow
Jacket. All in all a great CD which I found difficult to "put down".
Keep up the good work.
Cheers, Dennis
Dennis, thanks once again
for your feedback. It's always great to know my work is appreciated. After the
Nedor CD-ROM, I'm returning to an old favorite and producing The Target & the Targeteers
vol. 2, which I'm sure you'll enjoy as well.
Hi. Came across your
site by accident while looking for Captain Future references, and really liked
your site. I'll be back. Often.
John M. Burt
John, it's always great to
hear from new readers. If you have any favorites you would like to see, write
in and let me know. I try to do requests when I can, but my Golden Age collection
is a bit limited so it's not always possible. Capt. Future, however, is always a possibility.
Hi! I've been looking at
your sites and enjoying the sites. Great stuff.... Have you put your 30 'issues'
on CD, yet? That would be rather nifty. Especially if something happens and you
were to lose parts of it. Do you write your own code or does the Provider have a
web builder for you to use? How are the scans on your CD Roms viewed? Do you have
a reader on the disk or do I use something like ACDSee?
Cheers, Mark Stratton
Mark, thanks
for the kind words about my site! I haven't yet put all the back
issues on CD-ROM for sale yet, but I do have personal back-ups.
I would want to rescan most of the material so it is brighter and
bigger before I sell back issues on CD-ROM. I write my own code
for the pages and the CD-ROMs, but it is pretty basic, since I'm not
a computer expert (my wife helps out). The CD-ROMs are viewed like
the web site, with a web browser. They work in Internet Explorer or
Netscape. There is no reader on the disk. You just pop them in
your CD-ROM drive and open the file "CONTENTS.HTM" in a browser.
The images are a bit bigger than the ones on the site, so your
need to have your monitor set at a resolution at least 800 pixels
wide, or reading might be hindered. Thanks again for checking out the site,
Hi,
I have been enjoying your Pure Excitement Comics for 5 or 6 months now
(just got online and managed to come across them). I am a major fan of the
Golden Age. I am, however, ESPECIALLY fond of the Quality line of comics.
If you are planning to do any CDRoms focusing on them (any of them) I would
be first in line to order them. ::hint, hint:: Also, is there any chance
of you reprinting any stories of USA, The Spirit Of Old Glory or Red Torpedo
(especially if there is a story involving an underwater civilization) or
Alias The Spider? I have never seen these characters in a story and would
really like to do so. Stormy Foster--The Great Defender would be another
great one, too.
Thanx for listening!
Wayne P. Bertrand II
I don't have any Quality
CD-ROMs planned at this time, but I may produce some in the future. Except for
a nice Kid Eternity/Hit Comics collection, I don't own too many Quality comics.
As for your specific requests, I may get around to including Stormy Foster in a future
issue of Pure Excitement or as an single story on a multi-character CD-ROM, but
I don't own any comics featuring USA, the Red Torpedo, or Alias the Spider. (Well,
I do own one Alias the Spider story, but DC reprinted it back in the 1970s, so
I don't want to use it here.) I would recommend you check out the CD-ROMs offered
by www.comicsoncdrom.com. They have a bunch of Quality comics on CD-ROM and I
highly recommend them.
That's it for the letters
page this month. Be sure to check back next month for three more great reprints,
all starring Patriotic Heroes!

In the gallery this month is another scan I borrowed from an eBay auction. This is
Hit Comics no. 25, the first appearance of Kid Eternity, my all-time favorite Golden
Age character. This auction ends March 15 if anyone is interested. Of course, a
cheaper alternative would be to find the Secret Origins (old series) issue reprinting
this story.
