Princess Zinaida Yussupova (1861-1939), daughter of the Grand Master of Ceremonies of the Court and vice director of the Yussupov Public Library, married Count Felix Sumarokov-Elston. She was very close to the court and was particularly friendly with Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna, mother of Nicholas II, and Alexandra Feodorovna, his wife. In this portrait by the popular contemporary artist Francois Flameng, the princess wears a sumptuous dress decorated with the famous Peregrine Pearl, which once belonged to King Philip II of Spain.
