The Upper park of Oranienbaum, is one of the most beautiful parks in St.-Petersburg suburbs, it have existed for more than two hundred years. Initially it was planned according the project of A.Rinaldi by the prominent masters of the garden-park-making art G.Bush and I.Zeifertits. Experienced Russian horticulturists participated in its organisation: A.Andreyev, Ya.Skorodumov, N.Trofimov, F.Tretyakov and others. The Upper Park is the rare sample of the different planning styles synthesis in one unified ensemble - regular (French) and landscape (English). The total area of the park is 162 hectares. Its appearance, preserved till our days, was completed in the middle of the XIX century.

Many palaces-museums of Lomonosov (the Palace of Peter III, Chinese Palace, Sliding Hill pavilion) and many architectural constructions of the XVIII-XIX centuries of great historical interest Stone Hall, Knight's Block, Chinese Kitchen and Pergola are situated on its territory. Pergola is the pavilion twined around with greenery and forming corridors along the western coast of the pond in front of the Chinese Palace and consists of 54 pillars with the height of 2,55 m.
