The Tauride Palace

Monument of architecture of classicism. Built in 1783-89 (architect I.E. Starov) for Prince G.A. Potyomkin-Tavrichesky. After Potyomkin's death the Palace was bought by the State and became one of the favourite residences of Catherine II. In 1906-17th the State Duma seated in the Tauride Palace. Later the Palace was occupied by various bodies of the state government and up to 1990 the Leningrad High Party School was located there. At present the Inter-parliamentary assembly of countries-members of the CIS is situated in the Tauride Palace.
