The Fieldmarshals' Hall was reconstructed after the fire of 1837 by the architect Vasily Stasos. The architect duplicated August Montferrand's 1833design. The doors are decorated with portals in the austere classical style. The design of large chandeliers displays motifs of military valour. The hall took its name from its principal feature, state portraits of Russian fieldmarshals, which decorated the hall before the October Revolution of 1917.
