The Pavilion Hall
A watercolourpainting of the Room
The Pavilion Hall was constructed in the mid-19th century by
the architect Andrei Stackenschneider, a leading architect working
in the style of Eclecticism in Russia. Combining Renaissance,
Gothic and Oriental motifs, the architect created a light and
airy white and gold room. The combination of light marble and
gilt stucco illuminated by twenty-eight crystal chandeliers complements
the overall architectural ensemble. A notable item of this hall
is the "Peacock" clock, the work of James Coxe, an 18th-century
English watchmaker.
