Back to the Lufia II Main Page
This mysterious cave lies north of the
town of
Gruberick. Inside you will find level after level of treasures
and
monsters. There's just one catch: you can't take anything in and
you can't take anything out. There are a few small exceptions.
You can take with you any item found inside a blue box in the
cave.
Iris treasures (found in rest boxes) can also be taken out
of
the cave, but only items found
in blue chests can be brought back in with you on your next visit.
However, I've found items in the over world that you can take
inside
the Ancient
Cave with you even if they didn't come from one of these blue
boxes.
These include the water, earth, catfish, and twists jewels. You
may
ask yourself
why bother? The answer lies in the items. Many hold awesome
power and can be found no where else.
Once inside the Ancient Cave, you can not leave until you find
the
item called Providence, an item found somewhere between the 20th
and
30th floor. Every floor is filled with monsters and the only cure
items you have are the 10 potions you start off in the cave with
and
any additional spells or items you are lucky enough to find along
the
way. The best method for survival is to use your items to heal the
party and save your magic for battles. HP restoring items are much
easier to come by than MP restoring ones. Also, be sure to cut all
the
bushes in each floor. Every so often there will be an HP recovery
tile
underneath one of them. And on extremely rare occasions you
may find an MP recovery tile.
Also, at the 99th floor (if
you make it that far), you will face a boss - a giant jelly.
Defeat him to receive
the last Iris Treasure and the key to those boxes behind the
counter
- a Brill Helm, Light Jewel, and the Dragon Ring. The catch is,
you
only have about five rounds to defeat the jelly. The jelly does
not
attack you at any point. Instead, he heals your party's HP and MP
completely
in the first two rounds. The jelly has a large ammount of HP and
is
difficult to beat in the limited ammount of time you have. If you
don't beat him fast enough, he'll kill himself and you'll get
nothing
for your troubles. One trick I've heard of to win the fight is to
attack yourself and kill your own party members. Supposedly, you
will
get the same outcome as if you had actually defeated the jelly.
First
it will say "total defeat", or something of that nature, then the
jelly talks to you and you get a key.
Below is a listing of items from blue chests, and of the Iris Treasures.
These are all I have so far. Feel free to e-mail me and add to my
list.
