Eihwas
Members of House Eihwaz are hunters. They not only hunt the beasts which infest Dereth, they also hunt secrets. A member of House Eihwaz never passes the opportunity to learn new lore, see new places, or satisfy their own curiosity. House Eihwaz attracts independent and capable adventurers to its ranks. It takes rare commitment to seek out the unknown, whether the unknown is what lies in a mysterious keep, or the secret to killing an angry Lugian. House Eihwaz can be found alongside House Raidho, charting new territories for the Runeguard.
The EIHWAZ-rune is the rune of Ull, the god of hunters, who lives in Ydalir ("the valley of yew"). Yew wood was used to make bows. The tree was therefor important in connection with sorcery and magic.

Lore:
This is the principal of the vertical axis that penetrates into the world above and the world below and connects the human realm to heavenly regions. It is the synthesis of above and below, light and dark, life and death. The yew is a flexible force but also hard; it endures beyond all other things. The yew is evergreen in the winter (life in the midst of death), and it is useful to build fires, becoming the "sun within".
Positive Meaning:
The "yew" promotes spiritual enlightenment. Mental toughness and flexibility are needed. The inner flame must be ignited through discipline. Realization of inner strength will protect you from outside dangers.
Negative Meaning:
Eihwas coming too early into the life of a person can cause deep confusion. The hot fires unconsciously ignited may "burnout".
