Border:

attach two pieces together using half shells starting at tie off area. (ch 3, 3 dc,sc in base of row) make shell (3dc, ch 2, 3dc) at beginning ch- 2 sp, tie off.

attach to other side repeat half shells to shell at beginning ch-2sp attach to shell. tie off

Head:

ch 2, in 2nd ch from hook make 10 dc, join to form ring

Rnd 2)ch 3,dc in same sp, dc in dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc(10 dc's) turn

Rnd 3) ch 3, sc in same sp, * ch 3, sc in next sp, repeat from * across (makes arch of head= 10 loops)

attach head to center of shell at point of body, tie off

Arms/wings:

attach thread at shell (where head and body meet); ch 7, sc in tip of second half shell down skirt, turn, 10 sc in ch-7 space, tie off

Repeat for other arm/wing

Open skirt and slip over edge of book, allowing head and arms to peak out of book.
