Southern Bell Barbie
Materials:
yarn sufficently thick to work with Steel crochet hook C/2 to get gauge: 5sc and 4 rows measure 3/4" square. First five rounds of hat are 13/4" in diameter.
3½ ozs salmon pink and 1/3 oz. dark salmon pink metallic silver yarn.; fasteners; (ribbon 1/8" wide optional)
Dress:
starting at top, with pink, ch 35.
Row 1-5: ch 1, work sc in 2nd st from hook and in each st across; ch 1, turn.
Row 6: ch 1, work 2-sc cluster(2-sc cluster=pull up lp in each of next 2 st, yo and draw thru all 3 lps on hook); 1 sc in next st, sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 5 st, work (sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts) 3 times, cont with ( sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts) twice, sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, 2-sc cluster(=26sc in all); ch 1, turn.
Row 7: ch 1,( sc in next sc) 26 times.; ch 1, turn
Row 8: ch 1, work 2-sc cluster, 1 sc in next st, sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 4 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 9 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, 2-sc cluster(20sc in all); ch 1, turn.
Row 9-13: ch 1, work 1 sc in each sc; ch 1; turn
Rnd 14: ch 1, * 1 sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st* 4 times; 1 sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * to * twice(=27 sc); ch 3, turn.
Row 15: Dc in 4th st from hook, *1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, pre from * 5 times; 1 dc in each of next 2 sts, (2dc in next st, 1 dc in next st) 6 times(=40 dc) join with slst top of ch-3
Working in the round from this point
Rnd 16:Note: 3-hdc puff st with long loops (3-hdc puff st with long loops=*yo, insert hook in corresp st, yo and pull up lp to a height of 1 5/8", rep from * twice more in same st, yo and draw thru all lps on hook. To obtain regular height of loops, from construction paper cut a band 1 5/8" hight and place on sts of rnd 15 before working puffs.
Rnd 16: ch 8, work 1 puff in 9th st from hook, ** 1 puff in each of next 2 sts, then (2 puffs in next st, 1 puff in next st) 3times; rep from ** 3 times more, 1 puff in each of next 2 sts, 2 puffs in next st, 1 puff in each of next 3 sts, 2 puffs in next st=54 puffs in all; slst to top of ch-8. Drop yarn on wrong side of piece.
Rnd 17: (right side facing); attach metallic yarn with slst in first st, ch 1 and work 76 sc (that is , inc 22 sts evenly spaced:( 2 sc worked in same st=1 sc inc);slst in first sc.
Rnd 18: ch 1, work 79 sc (that is, inc 3 sc on the rnd evenly spaced); slst in first sc. Cut yarn
Rnd 19: Pick up dropped pink yarn, work slst in closing slst on rnd 18, ch 8 and work 1 puff (same as on rnd 16) in each st around (=79 puffs); close same as on rnd 16 and drop yarn on wrong side.
Rnd 20: Attach metallic yarn in first st, ch 1 and work 122 sc (=inc 43 sc on rnd evenly spaced); close same as on rnd 17
Rnd 21: ch 1, work 122 sc; close same as on rnd 17. Cut yarn
Rnd 22: pick up dropped pink and work 122 puffs as before; colse same as on rnd 16.
Rnd 23: attach metallic yarn in first st, ch 1 and work 245 sc (=increas 123 sc on rnd evenly spaced); close same as on rnd 17.
Rnd 24:ch 1, work 245 sc; close same as on rnd 17. Cut yarn.
Rnd 25: pick up dropped pink and work 245 puffs as before; close as on rnd 16.
Rnd 26: attach metallic yarn in first st, ch 1 and work 245 sc; close as on rnd 17. Fasten off.
Straps:
attach pink yarn in 5th st on other side of beg ch of dress, ch 1, work 1 sc in each of next 3 sts, ch 1 to turn and complete 11 rows of 3 sc each for first strap. Join 11th row with slst to opposite side of beg ch (sk 6 sc for first armhole) and cont thus: 1 sc in each of next 6 sts on other side of beg ch of dress (that is, 3 for neck and 3 for base of 2nd strap), complete 2nd strap in same way as first strap, join 11th row with slsts to oposite side of beg ch (sk 6 sc for 2nd armhole). Fasten off.
Sleeves:
Attach metallic yar with slst in any st left free for armhold on other side of beg ch of dress.
Rnd 1: ch 1, pick up 34 sc for first sleeve all around unworked sc + strap edge; close with slst in first sc.
Rnd 2: ch 1, work 34 sc; close same as on rnd 1
Rnd 3: Replacing first dc with 3 ch, work 24 dc ((=dec 10 sts evenly spaced: for 1 dec sk 1 st); close with slst in top of ch-3.
Rnd 4: ch 1, work 15 sc (=dec 9 sts evenly spaced); close same as on rnd 1.
Rnd 5: ch 1, work sc in each st around (=15 sc); close same as on rnd 1. Fasten off. Complete 2nd sleeve in same way to corresp.
Neck ruffle:
Attach metallic yarn with slst in first st on other side of beg ch of dress
Row 1: Replacing first dc with 3 ch, work 5 dc in first st, then * sk 1 st, 1 sc in next st, sk 1 , 5 dc in next st of neck edge, rep from * (distributing in this way 13 grps of 5 dc each); ch 1, turn.
Row 2: work 1 sc in each st across. Fasten off. Sew edges of ruffle with slst to right side of dress. Sew pearl in center of ruffle in front of dress. Attach fasteners on back evenly spaced.
Hat
Form loop with end of pink yarn.
Rnd 1: ch 1, in geg lp work 6 sc and cont to work spiral-fashion (that is, do not close each rnd)
Rnd 2: work 2 sc in each st arnd= 12 sc in all.
Rnd 3-4: * 1 sc in sc, 2 sc in next sc, rep from * arnd.(=18 sc on rnd 3 and 27 sc on rnd 4)
Rnd 5: sc in sc and inc 7 sc evenly spaced (=34 sc).
Rnd 6: ch 2, work 1 dc in each st arnd, end with 1 dc in same st as st from which ch-2 was worked; close with slst in top of ch-2.
Rnd 7: ch 3 and work 1 dc in each st arnd (=35dc); close with slst in top of ch-3
Rnd 8: ch 4 and work 2 tr in each st arnd; close with slst to top ch-4 . Fasten off
Rnd 9: Attach metallic yarn with slst in first st, ch 1 and work 1 sc in each st arnd; close with slst in first sc and fasten off. Lastly with metallic yarn work chain 16" long , run chain thru dc on rnd 7 and tie bow in front of hat.(or use 1/8" ribbon to thread thru )
