Curriculum vitae Born in Georgia, 1948.
Graduated from the Music Academy of Tbilisi. In 1975. he has gotten his
Doctor Degree at the same academy. He was the director of the Music College
in Batumi, Georgia, from 1986 to 1991. Between 1992 - 1993 Bardanashvili was
the Cultural Vice-Minister in Adjaria (Autonomy Province of Georgia) and
organized numerous international music festivals. In 1995 he immigrated to
Israel. He is composer-in-residence of Israel Sinfonette Orchestra Raanana
, lecturer on Camera Obscura College and professor on Academy of Music Tel
Aviv University. In Israel Bardanashvili wrote music for The Haifa Theater,
the Chamber Theater and Habima Theater Tel-Aviv, for the
Sinfonette Orchestra, the Musica Nova Ensemble Tel Aviv, Israeli Contemporary
Players Jerusalem and for the music festivals in Jerusalem, Kefar-Blum, Eilat
and Tel-Aviv. Mr. Bardanashvili is winner of AKUM Prize "Composer of
year 1998", and winner of Israeli Oscar for Theater Music 1999. Among his work:
symphonies, three operas, two ballets, Children of God Trilogy for
soloists, choir & orchestra; concertos for violin, piano, guitar,
clarinet (commissioned by Giora Feidman), Double Concerto for Piano &
Cello ; chamber music: Poem Dialogue for Piano, Cello, four Horns
& Guitar, Evening Prayers for chamber ensemble, string
quartets, piano trios, piano sonatas; choir music and many songs. He was
written music for over 20 films and 40 theater productions. His works were performed
in the USA, Germany, Scotland, France, Finland, Russia, Yugoslavia, Spain,
Italy, Israel and other countries, by Giora Feidman, Liana Isakadze, Oleg
Malov, Alexander Korsantia, maestros Valery Gergiev, Lior Shambadal, Dzansug
Kakhidze and others. Bardanashvili's Adagio
for Symphony Orchestra will be played by The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra on
November 99. Josef Bardanashvili is also great painter, with exhibitions in Georgia and Israel. |
