The Eliots and Waites are gently bred
With coffers bulging, full of ill-gained wealth.
They've huge amounts of cash to squander on
The luxuries that dissipate their health.
The Marshes and the Gilmans also rank
High in the circles of society.
They set high standards for the rest to meet
As experts on polite propriety.
But they are most disheartened, tragic folks
Who'd forfeit riches, mansions, yachts and Rolls.
If only they could alter what the fates
Have planned for their tormented, haunted souls.
