Egyptian Scarabs and Their Importance in Ancient Egypt.
The dung beetle (Scarabeus sacer) was a very important animal in ancient Egypt. Amulets were models of the scarabs as early as the Pre-Dynastic Period and into the Greco-Roman period. The scarabs came in many different sizes and materials. Scarabs would collect dung and lay their eggs in balls of dung. Later when they emerged, it was believed that shit was turning into life. This was consistent with the belief in immortality. My opinion is, if you have a life, don't turn it into shit.
