Writing is one of the passions of Barbie Perkins-Cooper. Intrigued by the beauty of words since early childhood, she published her first short story in the third grade. Her screenplays and plays received national recognition in competitions, including: the Writers' Network Screenplay and Fiction competition, Chesterfield Film Writers Project, and America's Best Screenplay competition, for the Writers Foundation. She shares her love for writing with her late father, a published poet, and devoted journal writer. She and her husband, Phillip R. Cooper, Sr., reside in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.
