The creatures laughed uproariously at this. One of the creatures said, "Stripe-dog is one of our nicknames. This term is usually used by creatures not familiar with our kind."
"Oh, well, in that case, my name is Farfurl. I am a rebel squirrel from Fort Oak."
"If you could aid us in our struggle, we would be eternally grateful."
Farfurl led the dozen badgers to Fort Oak. On the way, the badger who had first explained the name badger to Farful introduced himself as Bellan. He said that the BPAV was organized to fight vermin all over Mossflower and the surrounding areas.
When they reached Fort Oak, Farfurl took the badgers to see Twodon, the leader of the Rebel Squirrels. Balvur and Twodon had a long talk. They decided that the badgers could distract Marzul's army long enough for Twodon's followers to free the squirrels and escape.
Late that night, the badgers split into two groups. One, headed by Balvur, started a fight with the horde, while the other group, headed by Bellan, and the squirrels broke the enslaved squirrels free.
After the squirrels were free, they ran through the trees to the shores of the Big Inland Lake, where the BPAV was waiting for them. They escaped! The badgers offered to take any of the squirrels who wanted to go to Redwall Abbey. Most of the squirrels took them up on the offer. One family of squirrels, however chose to become wanderers in Mossflower Wood.
