Hancock Street looking West.  Picture from around 1900.  This bridge/area was considered the center of town. Heading West on Hancock Street in 1950.  This street leads to Arnots Addition & Wadesville going West and the Burma Road and Mahanoy City going East.

South 2nd Street looking South.  Picture from around 1950.  Notice the trolley tracks.

Looking North on 2nd Street.  Notice the horse and buggies.  The trees are gone from the main street but, many of the building are recognizable today.  The trees were removed when the main street in Saint Clair became Route 61. The building on right with round tower and pointed roof burned down about 10 years ago.

 This picture from 1950 shows the "Ritz" where "The Lyric" once was.  Next to the Lyric is Gwinner's Drug Store.  At one time there were three movie theaters in Saint Clair; the Hollywood Theater, Armory Theater, and the Ritz.The Ritz movie theater continued showing movies until the early 1980's.  Today the building is unoccupied and in disrepair.

Overpass over Route 61 North with St. Clair Coal Company in the background.  Both the overpass and coal company are long gone today.  I remember the days when my uncle, Norman Kull, a St. Clair businessman with a service garage and wrecker was called out to pull tractor-trailers out of this overpass because they got stuck.  His solution to the problem most time, let the air out of all the tires and let the truck slowly pull itself out!          1931 photo of Bennar McFadden leading a "health walk" to New York.  The large building on the left was the Peoples Bank, now the Community Bank.  The large home next to it was torn down in the 1970's to make a drive-thru and parking lot.
