A brief commentary on this site:
It is my opinion that this site looks best at a resolution of 1024x768 but 800x600 is not too bad. I use Internet Explorer 5.x but other browsers of third generation or higher ought to have no problems. To view the video clips on my companion media site you will have to obtain version 6 or better of Window Media Player and Direct X. Apple users can obtain a version of Windows Media Player also. More details are available on the video page itself.
It may occur to some to ask why this site was created and why it contains the things it does. I asked myself that same question but in the end this seemed the most logical thing to do. Hai Dong Gumdo is certainly not a sport, neither does it display itself for entertainment value. It is art. It is personal. It requires unwavering discipline in a framework of spontaneous creativity. Demonstrating my art clearly displays my prowess and my passion - laying me bare for all to see. Each practitioner takes something different from the art and gives
something different in return. No two Gumdo-in present identical
motions, with the same essence of form and intent, in quite the
same way. The impact of the movement, the sense of emotion, come
together in the realization of the action in a unique manner for
each of us. I believe that this experience is art. I do not claim to represent the practice of Hai Dong Gumdo as a whole. I do have the right to share my experience of it with others. Hence, this site.
From time to time I may decide to wax eloquent and add fiction, images or, Heaven forbid, poetry to this site. If I do so and you find that you do not like it, rest assured that you are in good company. I don't like what I write either.

As I understand it, the copyright of this material will be enforced by Biblical plagues and vicious halitosis. Rumours of undying enmity accompanying these punishments are likely true also.
