The Province of South Sulawesi is comprised of 23 regencies, with four  main ethic groups. Seven million inhabitants.The four main tribes are Makassarene, Buginese,Torajanese and Mandarese.

Buginese or Bugis people dominate in the southern part of the Sulawesi region and majority are moslem. They live on farming and fishing.They built their dwelling houses on poles and at one time they can move their houses as a whole without coming apart. Every house has three sections and each section has its own function ; Underneath the main house used as a space for feeding animals, the second one is where they live and the third section , just underneath the roof, is used for storing their rices.

The tribe of Bugis and Makassar are famous as sailors.Their sail-boats,  since hundreds of years ago have sailed to the island of Madagascar  near Africe, Australia, and a number of small islands in the Pacific Ocean. They are mightly sailors whether during war or peace.

When you are taking a trip to Toraja Land, then you will be passing through the Bugis Village with fascinating and strange-formation of the mountainous views along the roadside.
