VIII. At the End of 'Its Century': Only-Remaining Superpower

One hundred years have passed since Americans had first embarked on the roads of international presence, of seeking possessions and influence overseas, on actively proliferating their values, their ideals, their religion and on selling their products representing all this to foreign people.
Fifty years into
The American Century, their policies radically changed due
to events that Americans had no other reaction to than to take active interest in a truely global manner and seek out partners and allies to stand the challenge to their power and their set of values.

Another fourty years of ‘their century’ passed, the environment has changed yet again for Americans’ foreign relations. The earlier changes have been unmade, the challenges for America’s predominant position seem to have faded away (at least for now).

The questions that under these circumstances become evident at the formal end of The American Century are:

                - what re-adjustments have already been made due to recent changes?

                - what ideas have gained or lost importance and how will future concepts
of American foreign policy most likely tackle upcoming challenges?

                - will Americans have yet another century ‘of their own’ or will others seize
                     their current position?

Understanding that history cannot be written in advance nor is it predestined in any way, all evaluations of the future will present mainly my personal opinion developped by observing current trends and tendencies.
