Cancer Is So Limited
It cannot cripple love,
It cannot shatter hope,
It cannot corrode faith,
It cannot destroy peace,
It cannot kill friendship,
It cannot suppress memories,
It cannot silence courage,
It cannot invade the soul,
It cannot steal eternal life,
It cannot conquer the spirit
Cancer Does..........
Die with death.
Help to move us to eternity.
Brings families to compassion.
Encourages us to finish business.
Frees our spirit from an already declining body.
The top came from a patient's home. The second part, I wrote.

Rest I Require
How long I lie in this bed
Confused to the surroundings
Confused in my head.
Alzhiemer's has swept in dread
Of all that was me and is me
And to what am I lead?
Agony I can not express
Depression I can not feel
Pain that alluds me my mind will supress.
Energy of life no longer abounds
My mind is slipping
To where I can not be found.
I loose the will to move
But conserned to stay clean
Find ooze from orafices and grooves.
It burns, it runs for hours
Away from me, leaving me
To pine for what I can not borrow.
Colder I get as the blood runs hot
From every opening in my body
Soon, I will have not.
The enegy passes away
With every wipe of the cloth
Dignity to try to hold sway.
Rest I now require
Life passing from me
With every tick of the hour.

I hope you enjoy these poems. The second poem was written while I was taking care of a dying Hospice patient, that had struggled in her mind for many years. She was so confused, and knowing she was confused made it so much worse for her. She was not able to gain peace until death. Death took a long time to come. So this poem is dedicated to her.
