Dateline (sometime in the late nineties)
I remember it well. We were sitting down playing one of those non-japanime' board games and getting pretty bored out of our skulls. I turned to Mikey and said, " I heard you got the latest copy of "Lemin: Legend of the 6", any good?" He looked at me with almost a hint of surprise mixed with disbelief, cocked an eye brow at me and said "Lemme get this straight. You, who never miss a commercial release, get stuff from your pen pal Myoki at the end of every month DIDN'T get the last Oav?!? What kind of club prez are you Trap?" I sighed disgustedly and was about to try the question again with Jim when the phone saved me."Moshi - Moshi" I answered as always and waited, there was an exasperated sigh on the other end, then I heard " Trapper, in english please, we have to discuss the next meeting. Otherwise we can't send the info in to the 'zine for the month. Not to mention we have to be and not plan it around the convention." It was Alice. All business, all the time (almost). I can almost set my watch to when my v.p calls.
"Hello to you too. I should say I'm not here and moved to Paraguay but knowing you, you'd track my butt down so fast it would make my head swim." I could almost detect the wry smile of triumph as I waited for her to pick up the conversation. After about the usual twenty second lag time for composure I heard" So when can I drop by? I really need to go over the schedule so I can e-mail Jeff for the deadline, and remember." I promptly read her mind and cut her off " I know the Con is on the third weekend of the month and S.J. and Di would be real peeved if I scheduled a "simul". `Sides I have to be there anyway to help with the opening contest and run the all night " Lovely Kiki Battle Doll: Vs Luke Warper" marathon. Trust me Alice, I got it covered." I flashed my winning grin to Jim and Mikey with a little `Lina Mikoti' victory sign thrown in for good measure.
My moment of triumph suddenly went south when I heard my v.p. say in a droll voice "Then you won't mind me dropping by in, oh say, half an hour with S.J. Would ya?" The guys saw the color drain from face and realized that game night was over. Before I could get a word in edge wise they were out the door. Well that tore it. " Well Alice, are ya happy now? My only night to relax shot to the moon by another well placed v.p. anxiety attack." My only reply was silence. As usual she figured out a little too late that her timing was, as they say, "gawd awful". Now don't get me wrong, she's a really great gal who all who know her would give anything to keep as a friend, not to mention she was a natural diplomat and a pretty good listener. However when it comes to stuff like the club she can let her zeal get the better of her.
Not to mention she can also be a real work- a - holic.
I could hear S.J. in the background comforting our little go - getter, and a few minutes later I got " Sorry Trap, I forgot. I know how you've been real stressed as of late and I apologize for interrupting. Can I at least make it up to you and treat you to a calzone?" As usual she knew exactly where to aim; my stomach.
" Okay, no harm no foul. Wanna meet over at the pizza place in ½ hour? That way you can avoid the mess at my place. I should have it cleaned up by Monday, but I guess it would better to see you there. Don't worry, all is forgiven. You know I can't even remotely stay p.o'd at ya for more than a few seconds."
I could hear the relief on her end when she said " No problemo boss man. I'll be there shortly." For any of you out there just tuning in to my tale heres a little score card background. My name is
Trapper, Trapper Jon. A little over 4 years ago I founded the japanimation club "Another New and Insidious Manga anti - Elitist club.". Mikey and Jim are my 2 oldest friends and fellow japanimaniacs.
Alice is my second oldest friend and S.J. her beau, we met in a college language class and hit it off real fast as friends go. Di is Alice's closest friend, fashion advisor, and business partner (they run an internet marketing firm). We represent the growing number of japanimaniacs from all over the country.
We are also struggling to keep the newest, and coolest I might add, Japanime' club in Colorado going.
This is not your typical phone conversation we were having; but it is in a way J.
So sit back, relax and read on. The roller coaster is only being seated!

This is supposed to be a never ending story format. The readers make the story. The only major rules are;
1) No killing off the main characters. Theres enough violence in real life.
2) Tone done the language. There are many age goups including young children of elementary school age reading this. In short I would like to avoid a confrontation with the my site host, the PTA, and evryone else looking for a scape goat to roast.
E-mail me for current character mini bios and if you would like to add to the story. ~
