Prince of Prussia
1773-1806
Often refered to as Prince Louis-Ferdinand,
he was probably the most gifted Prussian soldier of the post-Frederican
era. his promise was never fulfilled because of his tragically
early death in action at the battle of saalfeld commanding 8,300
men against Lannes' V Corps as the French left-hand column strove
to break out from the Thuringerwald passes early in the Campaign
of 1806. he was killed by Guindet, quartermaster of the 10th French
hussars. As a prominent leader of the Prussian court war-parthy,
his death was grievously felt.
