KONSTANTIN ROKOSSOVSKI 


Soviet Marshal, it was born in Warsaw 21 of December of 1896 and died in Moscow 3 of August of 1968.  Son of a railway worker established in the West of Russia, in 1914 entered in the czarist army, being happened in 1918 to the Red Army.  During the civil war served in the East front  and ordered a regiment.  In 1919 entered in the Communist Party.  Thereinafter it perfected its studies in the Military Academy of Frunze.  During the World War II participated in the large military campaigns of the Soviet army: defense of Moscow, 1941;  Stalingrado, 1942, in which the troops to his command crushed to 22 German divisions;  Kurks, 1943; Belarus, 1944.  In 1943 was ascended to general and 29 of June of 1944 
appointee marshal of the Soviet Union.  During the last stage of the war directed the offensive until Poland, and was empowered after the Eastern 
Prussia.  To the term of the war stayed in Poland, in which organized the new polish army.  In 1949, to petition of the president of the Popular Republic of Poland, the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the U.S. S. R., released it of their functions in the Soviet army and put it to arrangement of the polish government.  It was appointed Defense minister of 
this nation and commanding in chief of their armed forces.  Per year following was elected member of the Political Bureau of the Polish Worker Party, and two years afterwards, in 1952, occupied the vice-president cargo of the Ministers Council of Poland.  In 1955 was appointed commanding in chief of the forces of the Agreement of Warsaw;  but 15 of November of 1956 returned to the Soviet Union, apparently, by differences with the first secretary of the Polish Communist Party, Gomulka.  In Moscow was appointed Defense 
vice-minister, cargo that occupied until 1958.
