I am a lawyer who is interested in spirituality and is a second-degree Reiki.

My name is Shankar Menon and I am from India. I am 48 years old. My Home state is Kerala, which is really unique in many ways and hence is called "God's Own Country". Legend has it that the land was created by "Parasurama" the 6th Incarnation of Vishnu by reclamation from Sea.

I started my spiritual practices at 16 and has been a tantra practitioner for the last 32 years.

The language of Kerala is Malayalam which is a highly sanskritized language.

We are from a part of India that is very advanced and the whole state having a length of about 600 Kilometers and a width of about 120 Kilometers is a very beautiful land and was ruled till independence by very enlightened rulers.

The Rulers were highly enlightened and they ruled not as despots but as representatives of the God and people.

Cochin the central portion was ruled by kings who introduced free compulsory education in the 1800s for all children male and female, at a time when even Britain did not have that!! He also created a Parliament under him. The wishes of the people were paramount and no state income was used for the personal affairs of the King. He lived on his personal income like any other citizen.

Equally enlightened Kings ruled Travancore. At a time when the low cast Hindus were being discriminated against by the upper cast Hindus, he issued a proclamation declaring such discrimination to be illegal! It took the west more than half a century thereafter to reach the same level by declaring color discrimination to be illegal.

This is the home from which the really ancient form of Martial art "KALARIPAYATTU" originated and from which it is said Karate, Judo, Kung Fu etc. arose. It is said Buddhist Monks from Kerala took this art to Tibet and thence China and Japan, where they changed form developed and became popular. Eventhough The basic features remaining the same, Kalaripayattu still remains largely unknown because the basic spiritual content was never allowed to be diluted. During British Rule, they prohibited "KALARIPAYATTU" but it was clandestinely taught. It has a great element of spirituality.

Then we have the most developed concept of Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of medicine. We have clinics here where you come in tired and go back revitalized and rejuvenated. I will add links to the hospitals that I find are doing the practices correctly at a later stage.
