COMBAT is a cyber-duel between the user and Sentry, in channel at #Gorean_Panthergirls(IRC Austnet).

The weapon used is a Gorean short sword, defence is by way of manoevering your shield, to defend vulnerable areas of your body.

To begin COMBAT , simply type !COMBAT in channel and the routine will start.

NB From then on, all commands to Sentry should be via Sentry's /msg (/query) window.

You will be asked firstly whether you want to see this instruction text.

type ! TEXT and it will be downloaded to you.

To start COMBAT type  !BEGIN

If you don't want to start the contest at this time then type   !QUIT

The program is based on

1/. A set of statistics inputted to Sentry , setting out the users STRENGTH / STAMINA / FITNESS.  All three stats have a bearing on the eventual outcome of the combat.
These are input via /msg (/query) to Sentry prior to combat.

20 points are available , which can be distributed between the three categories.

To Input your STRENGTH stat     type !STR<space><your stat here>
(determines the power with which you wield your sword)

To Input your STAMINA stat       type !STA<space><your stat here>
(a measure of how long you can fight at full fitness, and your ability to cope with injury)

To Input your FITNESS stat          type !FIT<space><your stat here>
(how fast can you move your shield to defend vital areas)

Each stat must be typed on a separate line.

When you have entered all three , type  !GO

You can change any or all of the stats as much as you like until you type !GO

Additionally, Sentry gives all the necessary information in messages to you online.

2/. A set of Attack/ Defence manoeuvres, inputted to Sentry via your /msg (/query) window.

Sentry will prompt you for your responses.

The Attacks/ Defences are based on telling Sentry which parts of the body you are attacking and which areas of your own body you are defending.
Parts of the body are numbered thus:

(this list is also available by typing !BODY either in channel or as a /msg (/query)).

When prompted by Sentry , use the format :

For example, an input of      !A4 D5     would indicate to Sentry that you are attacking the right arm, whilst initially defending your abdomen.

Please remember we are dealing with computers here, which are very unforgiving if an input is not exactly as laid out as the program expects.( ie. Don't forget the '!' or the space)

3/. A response from Sentry   who will generate her own set of Attack / Defence moves.

The outcome of each move will appear in channel, along with any injuries received on either side.

Sentry will continue to prompt you for your input until either you or she has received critical injuries.
