Pure concentration can never be obtained by forcing thoughts out of your head, because the more you think about it, the less you will be able to succeed. It's a catch 22 situation. Instead of trying to force thought out of your head, simply close your eyes for a few minutes and just let everything trickle through your mind. Thought is like a flood gate. Once it's opened a torrent of thought comes out. After a few minutes all that's left is simply a trickle. Let all the noise filter through. Pure concentration isn't blocking things, that never works. Thought is passive action that needs to run its course. So close your eyes and let it. A good exercise to try is to get a mirror and simply look at your eyes in the mirror. This distracts your conscious mind and allows things to go through it. Try this. Do it every day for five minutes. Then, after a few weeks gradually build it up. |
