Wigs
This is one of those pages where I am going to need some help from my girlfriends. I have not been shopping for a wig yet, so I'm afraid I don't have much to offer. I plan to soon, so any advice would be much appreciated. In the meantime, this is the scanty bit of information I have.
Over the Edge, Albuquerque, NM - {Also listed in the Dresses and Shoes sections.} They have a sign on their windows offering "Wigs by Timothy" {I think it's Timothy}. The next time I get to Albuquerque, I'm going to check on it. I've also found a Web Page from a San Diego CD/TV/TS support group which had several San Diego area wig shops listed. But *sigh*, I didn't bookmark the page. As soon as I find it again, I will post it on my links page. I finally found it! The group's name is Neutral Corner, and their site is now on my links page.
Football season is upon us. Doesn't anyone in Dallas have a suggestion for a wig shop where a girl can get a wig that will go with a new Cowboys Cheerleader uniform? Come to think of it, where can we get the uniform too? {*giggle*} My Girlfriends recommend:Sassy's Wigs, 404 S. Oakland Blvd., Ft. Worth, TX 76103, Owner Mary Woods -- Jenny Lynn sent me a fe-mail saying this shop caters to crossdressers. Thanks, Jenny Lynn! I'm glad to know of a place deep in the heart of Texas. Now, if I can just find that cheerleader outfit...Wigs, Wigs, Wigs 1502-A Wyoming NE (Belle Haven Shopping Center), Albuquerque, NM Vicky Anne left a note in my guestbook and said that Linda and Jenny are vey accepting of crossdresser and love to help you find the right wig. Thanks, Vicky Anne! I don't know why, but so far, I've just felt more comfortable shopping in Albuquerque than any other place I've been Showstopper Wigs, 26580 Bouquet Canyon Road,Saugus CA Wynn Walter sent a fe-mail saying that this is an excellent tg wig salon. Thanks, Wynn! I've also added their site to my links page. The Hidden Woman, Reno, NV -- Carly is the owner of this wig/transformation shop in Reno which is primarily dedicated to helping the TG community. Carly is a crossdresser herself, and sent me a fe-mail to let us know about her shop. Thanks Carly! I've also added your site to my links page. Next time I go to Reno, I'll stop by your place first and then hit the stores to find that perfect showgirl outfit! {Do you think I can make the rest of the showgirls jealous? *giggle*} World of Wigs, 2305 E. 17th St., Santa Ana, CA -- Rhonda, the Director of Sales and Marketing, sent me a fe-mail to let us know about their shop. In addition to wigs, they also feature makeup with periodic specials and free gifts. Thanks, Rhonda! I've also added your site to my links page. If any of my girlfriends ever wished they could be a California girl, this should be the first stop on the way to the beach. Fringe Culture, 14577 Big Basin Way, Saratoga, CA -- Judy is the owner of this salon in Northern California. She sent me a fe-mail saying that she specializes in hair and make-up for special occasions. {And honestly girls, isn't everytime you're en femme a special occasion?} She sells and services wigs, teaches makeup and much more, all in a beautiful, private setting. Thanks, Judy! I really need to learn makeup. I'd *love* to visit you. Perhaps, someday I'll be able to. In the meantime, I've added your site to my links page. Wig Paradise, Dallas, TX Darla sent me a fe-mail about this shop. She says -- it's in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, has a large selection and is fairly easy to get to. The sales staff and owner are very tg friendly. Simply, they really don't care who they sell to, just as long as the sale is made and the customer is happy. They have both synthetic and human hair wigs and the prices are excellent, about 30 to 50 dollars cheaper than the nicer places in the malls. Their address is 118 Wynnwood Shopping Center, near the intercection of Illinois and Zang. Thanks, Darla! It sounds like they have a great business philosophy. Just the kind of shop i keep looking for. Dixie Wigs, Rochester, NY. -- Marsha Ann sent a fe-mail about this shop. She says -- It's located on Main St. The lady there is extremely friendly and will do a personal fitting. She understands our needs and will take the time to give you the perfect fit. Thanks, Marsha Ann! It is *so* nice to deal with understanding people, isn't it. Chic Wigs, Clarksville IN (Louisville, KY area) -- Elisha sent me a femail about this shop. She says it is located in The River Falls Mall. The attendants are knowledgeable about the local 'drag shows' and might mistake you for a dancer, but can be very discreet, offering to try on wigs behind curtains even when you are wearing a heavy 5'o-clock shadow or mustache. Thank you, Elisha! It sounds like a lovely place. And, it would be *so* nice to be mistaken for a dancer. I wouldn't ever expect it to happen, but it would be so flattering. Wig Allure, Lake Grove, NY -- Arielle sent me a fe'mail about this shop. She says Everyone there will help you with whatever you need. They are very nice, and trust them with their recommendations. Thanks, Arielle. I love dealing with nice people. I do hope I'll be in New York sometime so I can visit them.
If you have favorite places where you feel comfortable shopping for wigs, and would like to share with the rest of the community, please send me a fe-mail or leave a message in Beth's Guestbook and I will post the store name and ciity on this page. If you own a store which is crossdresser friendly and have a website, please send me the address and I will post it in my links. |
