As we write Bury have made their best start to a season for a long, long time. Well done to the Manchester Evening News (it's about time they gave some coverage to the region's second team, after all) who, after the Pompey game, proclaimed that, having hit third place, we were in our highest position for 36 years (or 9 days, as we were 3rd after having beaten one-time bogey team Crewe.
Particularly satisfying was the 4-1 drubbing of Burnley at Turd Moor - shame it wasn't a league match but ample revenge for that "slight hiccup" in front of the Sky cameras two seasons ago.
A brilliant start to the season then - and we're happy to tempt fate yet again in time honoured fashion. Here at The Hatchet we predicted we'd go up in 96 - and we did! Same again in 97 - and last year, we said that we'd hang on by the skin of our teeth - and true to form, we did.
So, for 98-99 - we predict we'll make the play-offs AND win the FA Cup - remember, you heard it here first!!
