Add the text Create vector text on the image.

Open the image that you want to use. Layer->New Vector Layer. Click on the Text tool Text tool. Set the background color to the color that you want the text to be. Font face and size will depend upon the size of the image. Make the text as vector so that you can edit it later if need be. You may want to place blocks of text as separate vector objects to make it easier to adjust the layout later.

See a screen capture of this step.
Add the backscreen Make the screen.

Add another new vector layer. Drag this layer so that it is immediately beneath the text layer.Click on the Shape Tool Shape tool. Set the background color to white (or whatever you want your screen to be). Choose the shape that you want for your screen, here it's a rectangle. Make sure that Create as Vector is checked. Drag out the vector shape. If the shape isn't quite right click on the Object Selector tool Object Selector tool and drag nodes until it is right. Adjust the opacity of this layer by dragging the opacity slider on the layer control palette until the screen has the transparency that you want. For this image I set it to 60%.

Finished project with drop shadow Add an optional drop shadow.

If you want a drop shadow around the screen, Selections->From Vector Object. Layers->New Raster Layer. Drag the new layer so that it is beneath the screen layer. Effects->3D Effects->Drop Shadow. Adjust the settings to your taste. Here, I used offsets of 5 and a blur of 8.
