Fiction in a Flash
Flash fiction may not take long to read, but it's not as quick to write. Here is a great short, short story by Theresa Glasgow
Thirteen Female
The pocket of the tight fitting Levi's left only room for the flavor- of -the-month lip gloss
and money needed for admission, popcorn and coke. You couldn't stand around
looking cool without your coke and popcorn. Besides the snack bar was the
perfect see me spot. How else could you nonchalantly check out the boys if you
weren't in line at the snack bar. You in your herd, him in his, as you size each other
up. Then someone actually gets the nerve to speak and before you know it, your
sitting there in the dark theater with his arm around you, being ever so cool
and sophisticated. The only trick was how to figure out when to place your
gum under the seat, your popcorn between your legs, your coke on the floor
(without spilling it )and of course, retrieve that lip gloss. Then you'd give
him that bubble gum flavored kiss he'd never forget.
