Last Will and Testament of William Golding

In the name of God, amen, I William Golding of the County of Orange and State of Virginia being of sound mind and memory tho weak in body and (Craving?) to mind the transitory, state of this life so make this my last will and testament. I commit my body to the ground to be decently buried by my executors and my soul to God that gave it hoping in and through the miracle of a crucified redeemer to find redemption and a happy admittance in his heavenly kingdom. In regard to what it has pleased Almighty God to bless me with of thee worldly good I give and bequesth in the manner and form as follows. By my will is that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid out of tho money pricing from that fraction of my personal estate that my executors hereafter named shall sell that can be best spared to pay the same. Item - my will is that my beloved wife Sarah especially enjoy all the residue of my formal estate such as stock, cattle, household and kitchen and furnishing during her natural life. Item-I lend unto my beloved wife Sarah the plantation wheren I now live for she to enjoy the profit and produce thereof, together with the produce and profits of the mill on the said land during her natural life. Item-my will is that after the death of my wife that all property above bequeathed unto her be equually divided amongst all my children. Item- all that part of my estate that I have already given prior to them my wife to any of my children, real and personal, that the same shall be considered as other right and property. Item - I lend unto my beloved wife during her natural live four slaves nig Jacob, Benj., Rose and Betty, after her decease to be equally divided amongst all my children. Item - I give unto my grandson, Thomas Foster, that tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said county on the right hand side of the road leading from Benjamin's meetinghouse to the mile, supposed to be about a hundred acres mor or less adjoining Dunettson Early. Item - give him one negro fellow named Henry. Item - all the residue of my negros that is not above lent or gave be equally divided amongst all my children. The division to be made by sale by my executor if they cannot agree, together with ath property lent unto my wife at her death to be divided in the same manner. Item - my will is that the part of my estate that is causing or belonging on advision unto my daughter, Polly Paugh at my death or that of my wife, that all and every part thereof I lend unto her during her during her natural life and then give the same unto her children to be equally worked. Item - I hereby constitute apparent, and ordain a Richard Golding, Rueben Golding and E (?) Hambleton executors to this my last will and testiment. In (?) hereof I have here lent from my hand and seal this 19th day of March 1809

At a quarterly court held for Orange County at the courthouse on Monday the twenty fifth day of May 1812 (?). This writing purpating to be the last will and testament of William Golding deceased, having been heretofore offered for probate and (?) by Richard Golding and Reuben Golden two of the executors therein named and opposed (cut off)

Note says "The will was contested by the heirs because the Executors had sold property to William Estes before the estate was settled.
