"Our Findings regarding your Civil War Soldier of the 81st Indiana Infantry. This record appears in the "Roll of Honor" Vol. XVII, page 35.
Isaac Harp
Private Company K 81st in Infantry.
Date of Death 4 Feb 1863
Burried in the Cave Hill National Cemetery Louiseville, Kentucky, Section B., Range 7, Grave #37.
"As to why, the tombstone says Isaac instead of Burgess? The regiment, company, place and date of death is surely the same. Many errors were made during that awful war by clerks and persons who did the buriel detail. Isaac may have been his middle name or the name his buddies gave him, or even the name that one of the men gave the clerk when the error occured. There are a number of reasons as to why the name reads as Isaac, but the chances of this being the same man are excellent. Signed Mr. Arlynn G. Gantz."
Note: My mother did not believe this to be true. She said there was an Isaac and that Burgess body was returned to his home. Molly's notes also confirm this.
