Santo Domingo was the last place we visited on our cruise. Peggy and I had had our share of excitement on the trip, having one small tiff, but immediately making up that same night. I wanted to take one last tour while I still could, but unfortunately Peggy was unable to join me. I took the Columbus Lighthouse/Three Caves/National Aquarium tour all by my lonesome (well, there were about 20 other people on the bus as well). The first stop was the Three Caves (I forget the official name for them). It's a series of three closely positioned caves that were carved out of the limestone by the water. You have to walk down these steep, limestone steps, and it's very beautiful. Our next stop was the National Aquarium, with all the fishes and reptiles and exotic creatures. Their newest addition was a family of iguanas. The Aquarium is located right on the water, and when I saw the view in the back, I knew I had to take a picture. The water was so blue, it was startling. The photo will never be able to replicate what I saw, but I still think it's a nice photograph. All fun things have to end, and so we departed our ship, the Inspiration, the day after. Home is where the heart is, but for that one week, the Inspiration took us all away...
