Many thanks to a few special people:
Randy Nickell, who was my inspiration to start this project. After reading his heirloom letters from his great-great-grandfather, Andrew Jackson Nickell, it prompted me to share the Moore family heirlooms.
Guy H. Moore, my brother, who a few years ago took on the tremendous job of reading and transcribing the original diaries. Guy has spent hundreds of tedious hours of eye straining work, to copy letter by letter, page after page, year after year. His work prompted him to travel to the mainland and follow the diaries down the Mississippi River deep into bayou country.
Guy Elias Moore, my father, though he never did much with the diaries, he preserved them with great care for over 80 years. My father preserved everything he could get from our family history and left a rich heritage we shall never forget.
Nancy Moore Waledisch My sister, who helped with typing and filling in gaps from my copy of the transcript. Nancy also offered me moral support to continue the task, and appreciation for the accomplishments.
Larry Stevens, for his efforts to post the history of the 114th O.V.I., and all other Ohio units serving during the Civil War on the internet. Larry has spent an amazing amount of time to provide us all with Regimental histories from Dyers Compendium and many other sources.
Skip Barker whos contributions have added greatly to this site. His generous gifts to the Pickaway County Historical Society, and his many hours of transription have preserved much of the history of the 114th Ohio Volunteers.
Teresa Earhart For her generous donation of photographs, and information she and her husband have worked hard to collect.
Trina Haver For the donation of the J.S.B. Matson letters. Three wonderful letters with poetic chartacter that add to the depth of the site.
Warren Gentzel, last but not least, my personal hero. Warren has been a wealth of knowledge of my uncle, and all the members of the 114th O.V.I. Warren has spent years researching, collecting, and writing the history of Pickaway County, Ohio. He is also a public speaker and local legend for his talks about the 114th and 90th O.V.I. to thousands of students and adults. Through his generosity and kindness, my search for "a little more information" has become a flood of valuable documents and photographs. Without Warren much of the history of the 114th O.V.I. would still be scattered and disorganized
Thank you Warren, from the bottom of my heart.
