GREAT SUCCESS
Proves the Reunion of the 114th O.V.I.---But 18 Members Register in Attendance--Number of Other Veterans and Sons of Veterans are Visitors. Camp Fire.
The thirty-sixth reunion of the 114th O.V.I. was held at Lancaster, Fairfield, County, on Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 5 and 6, 1921. As there was no formal program for the forenoon, the Comrades met and paid their dues, received the badges and registered and had a good social time shaking hands and telling old war stories. The association then adjourned till two o'clock P.M.
The comrades and Ladies were escorted to the Mills Memorial U.B. Church, where a splendid dinner was served by the loyal ladies of Lancaster.
Afternoon Session
At two P.M., on account of the feebleness of President, John Fishbaugh, the Vice President, took charge of the meeting.
The first order was reading the report of last meeting by the Secretary, which was approved.
The Secretary read a letter from Comrade C.W. Green of Lincoln, Neb., stating his regret that he could not be with the boys this year, but would try to be at Circleville next year at the sixtieth anniversary.
Moved and second that there be a committee to draft resolutions in respect to those that died since our last meeting. The chair appointed J. A. Graham, Albert Getz and J.W. Ebert.
Comrades who answered the last roll call since the last meeting are William Orndorf, W.H. Davis, John Ebert, John Elder.
The Committee on Resolutions reported as follows:
Resolved, that in the death of these our Comrades, we have lost good and true friends, brave and valiant comrades and that our sympathy and condolence be extended to their respective families, and that the secretary be instructed to forward to the families of each a copy of the resolutions and that the same be embodied in the minutes of our meeting. J.A. Graham
Albert Getz
J.W. Ebert, Committee
Circleville was selected as the next place for the reunion in 1922, being the sixtieth anniversary, as the 114th left camp at Circleville Sept. 19, 1862, and on motion, Capt. E.L. Hawk was elected President and Comrade J.A. Graham, Vice President. The time for the meeting was left to the President and Secretary. There was some interesting talks about the tremendous kunckle burrs that we run into up the Yazo river. Some say that the Comrades exaggerated the size of them but I do know that one of my Comrades was six feet, three inches and he had to look up to see the tops. A very interesting address was made by Mrs. Evans and also by Daniel Crumley. On motion there was a committee appointed to draft resolutions of thanks. The chair appointed the following committee: D.B. Saint, J.A. Graham and Isaac Klingler.
The committee reported the following.
The surviving comrades of the 114th O.V.I. in attendance at their thirty-sixth annual reunion, do hereby tender to the citizens of Lancaster their sincere thanks for the cordial reception and magnificent entertainment and especially to the daughter of the President for her faithful work in helping him during the time spent in their pleasant city on this the fifth and sixth of October, 1921, and to the ladies for their dinner and supper at the U.B. Church, and to the citizens for their splendid program, and especially the beautiful flag drill by those girls.
