Crow Family History
Submitted By Mary Lou Crow Niblett
My sister is the doing the geneology and has alot more information.
What I have is starting from 1749, Thomas Crow was born in Wythe County,
Virginia. His father I belive come over from Ireland. Thomas had eleven
children. He freed his slaves and was so ostracized by his neighbors that he
took his youngest son David Crow (my great x4 grandfather) north. That was
what my grandfather had written but David was born in Penn. So he may have
moved to Penn. and freed his Slaves. That would be the Northern influence.
But then he moved to Pickaway Co, Ohio. His older sons moved to Kentucky it
was believed. David was in the War of 1812 and was at Fort Detroit. He was a
blacksmith. He was around 20 years old. When he came back to Pickaway Co., he
married Mary Connelly. They had 10 children. William H. was them my direct
decendent. He was in the 114th OVI. and I believe was injured at Vicksburg
and died of Pneumonia at the Army Camp Hospital at Madison, Indiana. Appears
he was headed home. William married Elizabeth Smeed on Nov 13 1842. Her
father and mother were from Rutland, Vermont. William's had a son David and
he had a son Emmet, his son Weston is my father.
