David B. Saint of Mt. Sterling, Ohio was born in Massilon PA, March 10,.1835, a son of John and Elizabeth (Gilmore) Saint.
David B's father, John, a blacksmith, brought his family to ross Co. Ohio when David was 4 years old. He farmed 160 acres, 5 miles east of Chillicothe. Built a smithy on the farm and worked at his trade. John & Elizabeth died when David was 9, leaving 4 children. David lived with James Little until age 18, then was bound out to a blacksmith in Chillicothe for 4 months. He ran away to Adelphi, Ross, Co., and worked for a smith there.
On December 5, 1858 David B. Saint married Nancy E. Boggs, born 3 Dec. 1840 in Pickaway Co., Ohio. She was a daughter of Wm. and lavina Byerly Boggs. David established a shop in Pickaway Co.. He enlisted in 1862 in the 114th Ohio Infantry. Postwar, he & Nancy lived in Five Points, Pickaway Co., for 4 years, in Yankeetown, Fayette Co., for 5 years then removed to Mt. Sterling.
Issue: 1. Wm. Louis Saint, b. Pickaway co. Sept. 30, 1859, is a blacksmith & woodworker at Deer Creek with a wife and 3 children.
2. Edson B. Saint, b. Pickaway Co., 22 Dec 1861, d. 28 July 1885
3. James Rutherford Saint b. Pickaway Co., b. 1 April 1866
4. George Leroy Saint b. Yankeetown 3 April 1869 is a blacksmith & woodworker who aids his father in the shop.
5. David Wilson Saint b. Yankeetown Sept. 16, 1871
David B. Saint is a Mt. Sterling city council member, has been a member of the Grange since 1879, of the Oddfellows since 1880. He is a member of Bostwick Post G.A.R., and the Patriotic Order of Sons of America. He is a member of the Christian Church.
